Attention!

We have been made aware of an upcoming power outage for the town of Snow Hill starting shortly. We don’t have a time when the power is expected to be restored. Crews are in place on Market Street @ Maple Street. If we receive additional information we will pass it on.

Update. Portions of Market from Maple down to Byrd Park will be without power for a few hours while work begins to replace a damaged line. This may not impact the entire town. Phone lines may be impacted as well. If you have an emergency, please utilize 911.

Update @ 630pm. Crews are still on scene but power has been restored. Please use caution when approaching Maple and Market Street but roadway should be reopened shortly.

Traffic Alert!

On May 25th, 2026, the American Legion Post 67 will be hosting a Memorial Day Service in front of the Circuit Court steps from 11:00 am until 12:00 p.m. Traffic will be rerouted during the event, and Market Street will be closed to all traffic from Church Street to Washington Street. Please use an alternate route while this event takes place.

Update!!! Roadway has been reopened as of 10:00pm.

Traffic Alert!

Delmarva Power is on the scene on Church Street in front of the Dollar General Market replacing a pole that was damaged from an earlier motor vehicle crash. Traffic is being directed around the scene but we encourage you to use Market Street or Washington Street for the next couple of hours .

Good afternoon!. This Sunday, March 29th, 2026, from 12pm to 5pm, will be the annual Oyster Festival in the downtown area. As such, there will be parking restrictions in place starting tomorrow morning. The municipal lot across from the Old Firehouse will be blocked to all parking and traffic beginning tomorrow at 6am. Additional parking restrictions will be in effect over the weekend, and Green Street and Pearl will be closed to all traffic beginning Sunday morning at 9am until 6pm.

Good Early Morning Folks.

Conditions this morning are extremely dangerous. We strongly encourage everyone to stay indoors and do not venture out. Multiple
roadways are impassable due to trees and utility lines being down. Public Works will be plowing our streets but not until conditions improve. Multiple agencies have been responding to vehicles that are stuck in ditches, snow banks and roadways. Please stay home if at all possible. Our Fire Department has been extremely busy and are doing their best to get to each 911 call.

Good afternoon! Effective at 3pm, the Maryland State Police have implemented a Snow Emergency Plan. All vehicles must be removed for primary roadways if they become disabled. Those vehicles that become disabled will be towed. Your vehicle
must also be equipped with snow rated tires or chains.

We ask that town residents please remove your vehicles from street parking as soon as possible. This will allow public works easier access to plowing the roads. The snow will continue well into the overnight with strong winds making driving difficult. If you don’t have to go out this evening, please stay in.

Good Evening!

As you are aware, we are in an extreme cold weather event that has impacted or area over the past week or so. The frigid temperatures are expected to continue over the next several days.
As a reminder, please ensure outside pets have shelter and if able, bring them inside. We are expecting snow to begin sometime during the afternoon tomorrow and continue into Sunday. With this storm, there will be gusty winds and visibility at times may be limited. If you don’t have to be out tomorrow evening , we recommend staying in. Public Works will be monitoring the snow accumulations and if needed, will be out to take care of the roadways when it’s safe to do so. Please secure loose items in your yard as well before the winds pickup.
