Today was an unfortunate but proud day for our team at Ideal Fire Services.
This morning, a UTV caught fire inside an unoccupied customers building in Columbia. The automatic sprinkler system activated, with five heads operating exactly as designed. The system contained and extinguished the fire before the fire department even arrived.
Within just a few feet of the fire was a newer fire engine and a new electric transit bus. Because the system worked the way it was supposed to, what could have easily turned into a catastrophic loss was stopped in its tracks.
Moments like this are why fire protection systems matter. Most days, the work we do goes unnoticed. Sprinkler systems sit quietly overhead and people wonder why they spend money maintaining them. But today was a perfect example of why proper inspection, maintenance, and testing is so important.
Millions of dollars in equipment and property were protected today because a system was ready to do its job.
I’m incredibly proud of our team and the work they put in every day to make sure these systems are ready when they’re needed.
Today we saved property. Tomorrow it might save someone’s life.
