Thanks to all of the adorable children who stopped by our SLFL Thank-a-Soldier table at the Camellia City Farmers Market. We are there the first Saturday of each month collecting notes of appreciation and colored pictures to add to our monthly care packages for deployed Troops. Anyone donating to our postage fund receives one of Jahneen’s beautifully hand-sewn items.
A big shout out to Jahneen McBrayer, and Carolyn and Brian Russo for volunteering this month.

Tomorrow, Saturday September 5th, Buddy Check Bakery will be selling Cookies and Dog Treats at the Harbor Center, Honor the Brave Fest Event. Every item sold will be a donation to Slidell Ladies for Liberty. Check out the event and while there try some delicious cookies from Buddy Check Bakery. Buddy Check Bakery is a Veterans sponsored local company and they donate cookies for our supported troops. Thank you Chad and all of the Buddy Check Bakery family for your support.

The baking and packaging are underway for Honor the Brave Fest!

We’ll be at the Harbor Center tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with cookies and Ellie Snax dog treats.

We will also donate $1 from every item sold to Slidell Ladies for Liberty.

Now, back to work. We have cookies to prepare.

We had a really fun day of games and great food at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Lunch on Wednesday, September 2nd. I think we all enjoyed just relaxing with our co-volunteers and not having to pack a single box. The SLFL plans this day each year to honor our wonderful volunteers. The brisket (expertly cooked by Tom Lutman) and the chicken strips, decorations and a few other things were provided and paid for by the Board, and volunteers shared delicious sides and desserts with everyone.
Games were played, prizes were won, and members got a chance to get to know each other a little better. We are already looking forward to next year!❤️🤍💙

Thank you to the Slidell Ladies for Liberty "Painting Ladies" for sharing your time and talents. Here are a couple of zoomed in shots of just a small portion of the beautiful and fun painted boxes delivered by Susan Needom and the Painting Ladies each and every month. Our troops look forward to seeing these creative boxes coming there way to brighten their day. Thank you again to all the ladies that participate in decorating boxes for our troops. You do an amazing job each month and you all are appreciated.

SLFL Packing for the Troops

Thanks to all of our volunteers who came out on this very hot summer day to help show our deployed heroes our appreciation for their service. We packed and shipped 82 care packages filled with snacks, toiletries, and reminders of home. Our wonderful supporters in the community helped to make this possible with their donations. We hope our deployed Troops feel the love as they serve our country around the world. We are "Home of the Free BECAUSE of the Brave!" 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

SLFL volunteer Kelly Lutman stopped by Creole Bagelry this afternoon for a delicious lunch and to pick up the pound bags of Abita Roast coffee donated each month for our deployed Troops. We are so thankful for the continued generous support of Creole Bagelry owner Darren Darby and Abita Roasting Company’s Kyle Ross. Our soldier love this awesome treat from home!

Slidell Ladies for Liberty volunteers enjoyed hosting our monthly thank-a-soldier table at the Camellia City Farmers Market this morning. Families visiting the booth wrote heartfelt notes of appreciation to deployed Troops, while children colored beautiful patriotic pictures to include in our monthly care packages.
The talented and energetic Jahneen McBrayer supplied her hand sewn creations (such as children’s clothes, purses, placemats, coasters, and casserole covers) that were gifted to those making donations to our postage fund. She and volunteer Carolyn Russo worked the booth today that was set up by our thank-a-soldier chair Renee Arsenault. Thanks to these three sweet ladies and to our wonderful supporters.

Slidell Ladies for Liberty is so thankful for the generous support from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Young Marines. Showing their gratitude to Veterans for their service and sacrifice, the JPSO Young Marines collected snack and toiletry items to be added to SLFL care packages being shipped to deployed Troops serving around the world. They recently delivered the items to Slidell and were met by SLFL Outreach Director Marion McCoy. Some of the items have already been shipped in our July care packages. We are so grateful to these young men and their mentors. Our future is in good hands. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
