The 2013 Memorial Day Program will be held at the Sidney Cemetery at 10:30 am on Monday, May 27. It is presented by the Sidney American Legion Post 128. The featured speaker will be Larry Ga***rd who worked in law enforcement and intelligence in the early 1960's. At 10:50am Harry Barr will perform a fly-by in his vintage P-51 Mustang. Harry grew up in Clarinda, and now is a pilot for Duncan Aviation in Lincoln, NE.

Gov. Branstad is ordering all flags in the state to be flown at half-staff from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, to honor Army Staff Sgt. Steve Blass, 27, or Estherville, who died in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crash in Kandahar, Afghanistan, on Monday, March 11.

Iowa Dot has just announced that military veterans will now be able to have the designation "VETERAN" added to their Iowa drivers license. Stop by our office to fill out the required form, we will verify your military service, and you take the form to the Treasurer's office in the court house. It's that easy! It can only be used for a new issue or a renewal of your license.

Veterans Day Program
The Sidney High School will host their annual Veterans Day Program on Friday, November 9 at 11 am. The program will be presented by the Sidney Legion Post 128 and the guest speaker will be Patsy Martin, president of the 7th district American Legion Auxiliary. The public is invited to attend.

Free Flu Shots for Veterans
The VA clinic in Shenandoah is offering free flu shots for veterans who are enrolled in the VA healthcare system. The walk-in clinic is open Monday thru Friday from 1-3 pm. No appointment is needed.

Governor Branstad has ordered all flags in the state to be flown at half-staff from 5pm Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 until 8am Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 to honor Sgt. Michael E. Ristau, originally from Cascade. Sgt. Ristau, 25, was killed in Afghanistan, while serving with the U.S. Army on July 13.

Governor Branstad has ordered all flags in the state to be flown at half-staff from 5pm Friday July 13 to 8am Monday July 16 for Sgt. James Skalberg Jr. who was originally from Emerson.
Sgt. Skalberg was killed in Afghanistan, while serving on active duty in the U.S. Army, on Wednesday, June 27, 2012.

Williams Jobe Gibson Legion Post 128 will conduct a Memorial Day program at the Sidney, IA cemetery at 10:30 am on Monday, May 28, 2012. Col. Orlen (Bud) Brownfield USAF retired wil be the featured speaker. A flyby by F16s of the 132nd Fighter Wing of the Iowa Air National Guard is scheduled for 10:45-10:50 am.

I received an email from the pentagon saying the 132nd Fighter Wing out of Des Moines has volunteered to perform a fly-by for our Memorial Day program on May 28.
