Upon digging deeper into Resolution 41, it appears the Commission is asking Amazon to do their own Environmental Impact Study. This resolution would be for both data centers in Caddo Parish.

Can we trust Amazon to not be biased in their studies? Have they proved to the community they are trustworthy?

NO.

Resolution 38 allows Amazon to keep the rainwater they capture and still drain 7.5 million gallons of water per day according to the water agreement with the city.

Both Resolutions will be voted on Thursday 6/4.

The community appreciates both Resolutions but they can be strengthened.

Shreveport Residents Push Back on Deployment Proposal

Shreveport, LA — Residents and community advocates voiced opposition this week to a proposal that could bring National Guard troops to Shreveport to address rising violent crime. Concerns focused on long-term solutions and the effect a military presence could have on neighborhoods.

During community meetings and informal gatherings across the city, residents highlighted that while crime remains a major challenge, solutions should prioritize investment in youth programs, workforce development, and long-term policing strategies. Several speakers noted that Guard deployments are temporary, while Shreveport’s public safety issues require permanent support.

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith reiterated his caution that sending Guard members to the city could unintentionally deplete local police resources. Because many SPD officers are part-time Guard members, their reassignment could result in fewer patrol units and delayed response times.

Neighborhood groups in Highland, Allendale, and Queensborough submitted letters urging city and state officials to pursue alternative investments. Among the recommendations were enhanced officer pay, upgraded technology, and increased recruitment efforts to strengthen the police department’s long-term capacity.

The governor’s office has not yet confirmed whether Shreveport will be included in the deployment. City officials say they plan to review all available details before offering formal consent. For now, local residents are preparing to raise their voices at upcoming council and parish commission meetings to ensure their perspectives are considered.
