Happy Earth Day! We treat every day like Earth Day here at Pride. We manage your materials (garbage, recycling, and yard debris with food scraps) for you, ensuring they are handled correctly and responsibly. We invest in fully electric trucks and trucks fueled by renewable natural gas, provide a public recycling depot, and use environmentally sound decision-making throughout our operations every day. Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling (in that order) are ways you can help our environment throughout the year!

Tuesday Recycling Tip! If you’ve saved up clamshell and film plastics at your home and not sure what to do with them, we accept them at our depot for free! The materials that can be dropped off (in residential volumes) include:
• #1 PET or PETE clear clamshell plastics (must be one-piece containers hinged on one side)
• Film plastics such as grocery bags, bread bags, product wrap, bubble wrap, food storage bags, air pillows used for shipping
Many clamshells can look alike, we recommend sorting them in advance and only bringing in #1 clamshells.

Tuesday Recycling Tip! Some refrigerated delivery items come with insulated packaging like this to keep your products cold. Unfortunately, the packaging is advertised as being recyclable curbside when it is not. These are not allowed in your curbside recycling cart, they are of a mix of film plastic and PET staple fiber and cannot be recycled curbside. We understand it’s confusing when mixed messages like this are shared, please refer to our website for details on what can and cannot be recycled at the curb! https://pridedisposal.com/residents/recycling

Tuesday Tip! Our collection trucks use an automated arm to service your totes, so proper placement is important to ensure safe and efficient service.

When placing your totes curbside for collection, please take the following into consideration:
• Leave 3’-5’ between each tote whenever possible. This makes it easier for the automated arm to pick up each tote without knocking over the totes next to it.
• Do not block sidewalks, bike lanes, or vehicle lanes of travel.
• Place totes within 5’ of curb.
• Make sure there is 18’ overhead clearance from items such as basketball hoops and tree branches.

It’s important that you do not block sidewalks with your totes. People that utilize wheelchairs, strollers, etc. need to be able to safely use the sidewalks, and blocking the sidewalk with your totes creates a hazard.

Here are tips on how to properly prepare your Christmas tree for pickup.

If you subscribe to yard debris service:
• Cut up the tree and place it inside your yard debris cart. It’s preferred to have the tree cut up in your cart to make it easier for our drivers, but you’re also allowed to put the tree out in place of your cart if it meets our size requirements.
• If it’s over 5’ tall or wider than 4' it must be cut in half, no tree section can be larger than 5’, or wider than 4’.
• Please remove all decorations before placing your tree at the curb.

If you don't subscribe to yard debris service and would like your Christmas tree picked up: Contact our office to schedule a pick-up.

If your tree is flocked, it is not accepted as yard debris but can be picked up as garbage for an additional fee. The same size requirements apply.

If you’re having a non-profit collect your tree, please do not put it out next to your carts on garbage day and consider putting a note on it letting the drivers know it is not for them to collect.
