We have a lot of food producers (shellfish growers and small local farmers) along the Hood Canal that may be interested in this work by the Economic Development Council of Mason County. Please take a moment to complete the survey for the Mason County Food Coalition.

Things are underway with the Mason County Food Coalition as members recently gathered to introduce themselves, discuss community needs, and explore ways to support one another while strengthening our local food system. The coalition's first newsletter is anticipated to launch on June 4.

In the meantime, the group is seeking additional input from producers, community members, service providers, and others interested in food access and community well-being. Visit the link below to complete the survey and subscribe to receive future coalition updates and newsletters.

Had another great visit this week from Charles Wright Academy.

Ms. Keehn's 2nd graders got to tour Rocky Brook Hydro facility on the Dosewallips and then stop at the PUD 1 shop to eat lunch while they watched a Power Town safety demonstration from our Electric Superintendent. Afterward, they headed outside to practice using pullies and ropes to move the tool bucket full of candy and then donned harnesses to take a quick trip up in the bucket with the linemen!

These STEM field trips are a great way to introduce kids to our industry and learn more about where their power comes from, how to behave around electricity and power lines, and what to do during power line emergencies. They asked great questions. Hopefully we hosted a future engineer or lineworker!

(Also, thanks Jefferson County Pud #1 for loaning us your display again this year!)

Thank you to all our friends, neighbors and partners for coming out to our ribbon cutting at our new Manzanita Campus this week. This utility campus will serve the Union community and neighboring areas for decades to come.

We can't accomplish these large infrastructure projects without the partnerships we've built over the years, so thank you Washington Public Works Board, Representative Dan Griffey, Travis Couture, Mason County Commissioners, U.S. Senator Patty Murray, Union Fire Department, our neighbors on E. Covey Run, and Mason County 911, for showing up to support us and celebrate.

It was sometimes super stressful and tough to get over the finish line, but this team did it! They always do. Congratulations, guys!
