I am sure everyone has seen these banners placed around Mason county. Honestly I am shocked by my assessed value. I live in very rural Mason county and it went from 479,000 to just under 620,000. I know it's a fair and accurate assessed value as that it what the market showed in my neighborhood for my 2023 assessment. I also understand that my taxes WILL NOT INCREASE THE SAME % AS MY ASSESSMENT due to the levy limitations placed on the taxing districts in your tax code area. The Assessor's office does not create the market, we follow it. Please remember to vote for intetgrity & experience & not fall for these flyers that say trigger words to get your attention to vote for them. Thank you for taking the time to be informed. I would appreciate your vote on November 8th. Please message me with any questions you might have.

This is a reply to a comment on a post from after waving signs on the 21st of October. One of my supporters simply put a angry face next to my opponents name in the comments. He was asked why be angry as it was her post and this is how local politics should be, to get along. He simply supports me as a longtime friend and knows how I know the office and can run it with my morals and experience.

With that said and I am not trying to start drama, however a lady showing support for my opponent totally started drama upon her arrival. Jumping in front of me and yelling over me trying to answer a question a lady was asking me while stopped at the red light. Yelling to "GET RID OF THE LIFER" !! A few times. I said I was the one on the sign & she yelled back " I KNOW WHO YOU ARE". The lady quickly rolled up her window when this happened. Well I just want to say she doesn't know who I am. I am tired of being called a lifer & that I am not a good Assessor. It has been said many times & everyone who knows me knows I am a good Assessor and ran for office because of my morals & experience to run this office the way it should be. Please do not reply any bashing replies as this is not the place for it. I will say she apologized later, however I did not participate in talking with her. People need to not read to much into people's post or emojis. Let's all BE NICE!
I just want to clarify that I am not a LIFER, this is my 1st term as Assessor. Yes I was hired in the Assessor's office in April of 1991. When I started I had little knowledge of what an Assessor's office is or does. I quickly learned everything and with this many year's in the office make me the best candidate for Assessor. With a week and 2 days left, please reach out to me with questions you may have and I will be happy to answer them for you. Thank you all and I would appreciate your vote on November 8th.

Ballots are in the mail this week. A big thank you to all the citizens who came to the forums the last few months to become informed voters. I had several folks approach me after these forums and asked me very good questions and gave me their support. If you were not able to attend these forums, the voters pamphlets were mailed last week & they are also available online. Experience & integrity matters & I would appreciate your vote to be re-elected as your Mason county Assessor. Thank you very much & please feel free to share to your Facebook.

I am very grateful for everyone who recongnized experience & voted for me. Thank you all.

The Assessor cannot raise property values in order to increase taxes. The cost of providing public services determines your property tax. Local government consists of various taxing districts including fire districts, regional library, cities, roads, ports, county government, etc. A portion of the tax is distributed to the state for local school support. In addition, taxes are collected to pay for special voter-approved levies, such as school maintenance and operation levies and bonds and emergency medical levies. The Assessor does not set budgets for these taxing districts. Budgets are established by the taxing districts themselves and approved by their legislative authority. Every year the directors or commissioners of all taxing districts meet in open session to determine the amount of taxes to be collected the following year. Public questions or comments are welcome during this process. Once the budget has been adopted, and a resolution passed by the commissioners of each taxing district, the amount of taxes to be collected is certified by the Assessor. The role of the Assessor is to then calculate the tax rates necessary to generate the revenue needed to meet the budgetary requirements of the districts. The Assessor also ensures that none of the constitutional or statutory limitations are violated. My opponent cannot take an oath of office to uphold the laws of Washington State and then promise to lower your taxes to win an election.

My opponents statement asks “Are you tired of your assessed value of your property?” As you may have heard, real estate values in all Washington state counties have been on a steady increase over the past few years. Per RCW 84.40.030, all property must be valued at one hundred percent of its true and fair market value which then results in unprecedented market values. As stated in the prior paragraph, the Assessor cannot raise values in order to increase taxes. In summary if sales in your neighborhood reflect a 10% increase from the prior revaluation, then your value will do the same. My question to my opponent is what would be your plan to fund all the local taxing districts that provide services throughout Mason County?
A qualified Assessor is what is needed to ensure that your assessed value is accurate and fair so you are paying your portion to these local districts. Please be an informed voter. Thank you all for your support.
