U.S. Mail postmark rules have changed.

Ballots are now postmarked when processed, NOT when you drop them in the U.S. Postal Service mailbox โ€” this can cause 1โ€“2 day delays.

If youโ€™re returning your ballot close to Election Day:
โ€ข Request a manual postmark from a postal clerk at the local post office
or
โ€ข Use a secure drop box
or
โ€ข Deliver directly to your city/county/state election department office
