Update Seven Points Police Department investigation: Deputy Chief Katsoulas has concluded his investigation into the Seven Points Police department. As a result, Henderson County have recused themselves from this matter and the entire case has been forwarded and accepted by Smith County for further action.

My name is Keith Betts and I am the Incumbent Candidate for Mayor of Seven Points in this upcoming election on Saturday May 2, 2026, with early voting starting Monday April 20, 2026.

I was first elected in 2024 on the promise of working on the roads in Seven Points. I started working hard to bring in grants and bonds for the roadwork necessary to bring about a new infrastructure for Seven Points. However, we ran into problems from prior administrations that included the fact that no audits had been done and they were needed to apply for grants and bonds. That ended that plan. Then we decided to re-arrange the money to allow for the purchase of equipment to allow the City to rebuild our own roads. In the process of re-arranging the funds, three members of the City council decided to block our work because they were upset with spending some of the money they had plans to use elsewhere. This went on for the next year and a half and is still a problem. I tried to push a new budget last September and it was blocked once again by the same three councilmembers. Unable to pass a budget for 6 months after the deadline, I was unable to spend any of the road money without their help so the roads continued to be blocked. We are just now equipped to work on the roads with the proper machines necessary to get the job done. The City has a good crew of workers with experience working on roads and streets, and for the money we can afford to pay. They are to be commended for the good work they are doing to help get the business of road maintenance moving in a new direction.

Isaiah 43:19 ESV

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

I have spent the last 5 months dealing with cleaning up the years old corruption found in the Police Department and we are working hard to get the department moving forward again. I have hired a new Deputy Chief of Police who is helping to get the department re-organized and running professionally. We have hired and are still hiring new officers to come in and work the streets and get the City back under proper and professional law enforcement care. Soon, we hope to return the law enforcement back over to our own department around the clock and relieve Henderson County of the burden placed on them by the old regime.

Financially, we are very solvent. Now that we can finally access our budget, we are working to rebuild the new City Hall after we demolish the existing old building. We will start taking bids for demolition very soon, and I hope to see a new building from the ground up very soon that will make us all proud.
