On June 6th, the SelmaWalking Club is stepping forward together for Menโ€™s Health & PTSD Awareness. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ฃ

Too often, men are taught to โ€œpush throughโ€ pain, stress, and struggle in silence but real strength is taking care of your mind, body, and overall well-being. This walk is about community, support, and reminding men that their lives, health, & voices matter, and they donโ€™t have to walk alone.

Join us as we walk for awareness, healing, and healthier futures, one step at a time.

๐Ÿ’ก WARD 6 UPDATE: MORE LIGHTS ARE ON THE WAY! ๐Ÿ’ก

Many of you have shared concerns about dark streets and inadequate lighting throughout Ward 6, and I want you to know those concerns have been heard and acted on.

Iโ€™ve discussed this issue during several Ward 6 meetings over the past few months, but I wanted to make a public post to reach even more residents and ensure everyone is aware of the progress being made.

Beginning back in December, I worked with Alabama Power to address lighting concerns throughout the ward. After their initial assessment, many areas received upgraded lighting by February. However, following additional safety concerns and recent incidents, I requested that Alabama Power revisit Ward 6 again in April to identify more areas that need brighter lighting and additional coverage.

As a result, Ward 6 can expect more lights and brighter areas by August, or no later than September.

I will continue riding throughout the ward, assessing neighborhoods and identifying areas that need attention. If you notice a street light that is out, dim, flickering, or an area that needs additional lighting, please let me know. If possible, include the pole number to help speed up the process.

Help me help you. Keep bringing me your concerns so we can continue making improvements across Ward 6.

Thank you, Ward 6, for your patience, communication, and support as we work together to make our community safer and brighter for everyone. ๐Ÿ’š

Today, Mayor Moss, Councilwoman Nadine (Chair of the Recreation, Cemetery & Tourism Committee), Hawatha McGee (Director of Code Enforcement), Gerald Barron (Director of Parks & Recreation), and I had the pleasure of receiving new equipment that will help strengthen our Parks & Recreation Department.

This equipment will improve field maintenance and support recreational programs throughout our community. We are grateful to Bush Hog and Blue Ox Equipment for their partnership and continued investment in the City of Selma.

Working together to keep Selma moving forward. ๐Ÿ’›

Our community is hurting right now. Far too many lives have been taken because of senseless gun violence, and itโ€™s heartbreaking to see families grieving while our city lives in fear. From young lives lost too soon to the recent tragedy involving an innocent child, enough is enough.

My prayers are with my coworker and his family during this unimaginable time after the loss of his 2-year-old child to this senseless violence. Iโ€™m also praying for every family affected by these recent tragedies across our community.

If you know something, say something. Silence only protects the problem. Selma deserves better, and together we must be part of the solution. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Enough is enough. Over the last couple of weeks, Selma has lost three lives to gun violence, including a 2-year-old child. We are actively working with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to pursue those responsible and restore peace to our community. Please keep these families and our city in your prayers.
