Today marks the start of National Community Development Week! Throughout the week, we are spotlighting some of the programs and capital projects that receive federal Community Development Block Grant funding through the Seattle Human Services Department.

First up: Minor Home Repair, a program helps seniors and disabled homeowners with low incomes maintain their homes so they can safely age in place.

"By fixing small issues with plumbing, electrical, carpentry and safety accommodations before they grow to endanger the home or the homeowner, our minor repairs allow elders to maintain their independence and safety," says Logan Edwards of Sound Generations, which administers the program.

The SHARE Program is looking for Black or African American families living with the challenges of memory loss.

Participants will either receive the 6 session SHARE program or a single session education and resource session. Your participation in this study will help others who experience similar challenges to create a plan for the future. Both care partners will receive a small payment for their participation. All sessions will take place virtually.
