The House has adjourned, but not before the majority passed a $55.9 Billion State Budget at 4:00am.

At a time when people are struggling with property taxes, rising energy bills, healthcare costs, and the overall cost of living, this budget continues the same pattern of higher spending, questionable revenue assumptions, fund sweeps, and budget gimmicks rather than addressing the real structural challenges facing Illinois families.

I voted NO.

It's 3:00am but we are still working on the House floor!

I spoke in support of UTV's and brought attention to the need for regulation in order to increase safety.

House Resolution 955 that was adopted today recognizes the current impact and potential for future growth of the off-highway vehicle tourism industry in State of Illinois.

⏰Budget Update: We're still waiting!

With hours before the end of session, too much is still up in the air.

We’re heading back to the floor tonight, and it’s shaping up to be a very long night. As we work through the late night hours, our focus is simple: make Illinois more affordable for working families. Unfortunately, the Democrat majority has lost sight of that goal.

Democrats’ new elections omnibus bill would open the door to costly challenges, administrative chaos, and prolonged uncertainty. Bottom line: it would make elections less safe and secure.

Today is our last scheduled day of spring session.

Around 9 p.m., the Senate released a new draft of the state spending plan for the budget year that begins July 1.

This is a great recap of where things stand ⬇

With one day left until the Illinois General Assembly’s scheduled adjournment, lawmakers worked to find tax increases and revenue diversions to finance a new state budget while a plan to keep the Chicago Bears in Illinois hit a…

We are in the final stretch with only 48 hours to go in our legislative session and taxpayers are top of mind! When it comes to the budget, the Governor keeps his blame game strong...

He continues to blame local governments on raising property taxes, but when you’re not giving them the statutory requirement that was agreed upon (in LGDF money), it gives the locals no choice but to raise their property tax levies to cover their costs.

The lack of movement on the major issues has increased tensions and exposed internal dissention among Democratic lawmakers toward their legislative leaders and Gov. JB Pritzker.

Yesterday I presented HR923 in committee to urge the Illinois Department of Early Childhood (IDEC) to study ways to reduce licensure and regulation burdens on day care homes in Illinois.

This is an effort to find a solution to the unaffordable costs of childcare in our state that working families have to juggle. Finding ways to reduce the cost of daycares but increasing access and reducing burdens on home daycares is an essential part of a solution!

At the last minute, a third amendment was added to this e-bike bill to include driving under the influence penalties, but only if the bike operator was traveling faster than 28 mph....making it hard to prove.

The Secretary of State’s push for e-bike regulation under the guise of safety also disregards the many concerns of utility terrain vehicles (UTV) owners to protect roads and users.

Illinois lawmakers approved new regulations for e-bikes and scooters, adding speed and age restrictions.

I spoke with WGN's Tahman Bradley about what's happening in legislative session. With less than a week left to go, there are a number of standing issues we must address! Check it out:
