Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

We remember the 343 FDNY firefighters, along with all those who made the ultimate sacrifice that day. Their bravery, service, and dedication will never be forgotten.

From all of us at the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department, we honor their memory today and always.

On Thursday evening members of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department partnered with the Adirondack Regional Airport for a joint emergency response training session. Exercises like these are vital for strengthening teamwork, communication, and overall operational preparedness.

During the session, crews conducted an airfield tour to review critical access points, airfield markings, signage, and other operating considerations. The training also focused on airport fire truck capabilities, aircraft familiarization, entry procedures, and hazard identification. A big thank you to our dedicated firefighters and everyone involved for their commitment to keeping our airport and community safe!

🥎Softball tournament rules 🥎

Location: McKenzie Pond Road (Black Fly Fields)

This is a benefit tournament for fun and a trophy not for cash.

One hour games
Each batter starts with 2-1 count
7 men and 3 women
Minimum 3 women on the field at all times. Can have more women if you want.
DH and EH can be used but one must be female and one must be male. If you have one you must have both.
6-12 arch pitch
If a guy walks in front of a female, the female has a choice to walk as well

July is off to a busy start for members of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department, 18 emergency calls in 3 days and yesterday members participated in multiple community events to include the Women's Civic Chamber of Saranac Lake Kiddie Parade, provided Color Guard for the Veterans Ceremony in Riverside Park and a safety crew for the Village of Saranac Lake Fire works display.
