Flowers are still good here at Carrizo Plain, but just past peak and starting to fade. We are starting to see later blooming species and now is the time to come out before flowers are done for the season. Best viewing locations are:
-Soda Lake Road just south of the Visitor Center (Hillside Daisies, Valley Phacillia, Owl's Clover)
-Near Traver Ranch (Phachillia, Hillside Daisies)
-Simmler Road (Coriposis/Tickseed, Tidy Tips, Hillside Daises, Lemon's Mustard), -Temblor Mountain Range (Hillside daises, Phacilla, and Desert Candle)
*High clearance vehicles recommended for Elkhorn Road and access to the Temblors. Much of the northern Temblors is private property.

Please respect private property within and around Carrizo Plain, even if there are flowers. Rattlesnakes are also starting to be seen at Carrizo. Make sure to bring a full tank of gas, food, water, and everything else you need for the day. Campgrounds having been filling up even on weekdays, so make alternative plans. Visitors cannot camp on the valley floor, which is sensitive endanger species habitat.

Wildflower Update from the Carrizo Plain:
Flowers are in peak season here at Carrizo Plain. Best viewing locations are along Soda Lake Road (Hillside Daisies, Valley Phacillia, Goldfields), Overlook Hill (Baby Blue Eyes), and Simmler Road (Coriposis/Tickseed, Tidy Tips, Hillside Daises, Lemon's Mustard). There are also Hillside daises, Phacilla, and Desert Candle in the Temblor Mountains. High clearance vehicles recommended for Elkhorn Road and access to the Temblors.

Hello from the Carrizo Plain!

Flowers are looking very good at Carrizo and we are in "peak" season. Mostly Hillside Daisy/Monolopia on the valley floor and hillsides. We have some good spots of Valley Phacelia on the valley floor as well as some small patches of Tidy Tips. Still some Baby Blue Eyes on the Overlook Hill and Goldfields on the valley floor, but they are fading. Our recommended viewing spots are along Soda Lake Road

We always want to reminded people that Carrizo Plain is a very remote location. Bring all the food and water you need and a full tank of gas. Snakes, including rattlesnakes are starting to come out. Campgrounds are most likely full, so have alternative plans. Dispersed car camping is allowed in the foothills and mountains, off the valley floor, which is sensitive endangered species habitat. Visitors will most likely need a high clearance vehicle to dispersed camp. We recommended Quail Spring road and Padrone Canyon Road for dispersed camping.
