Solid State Startups Meetup at Ground Floor on Tuesday, October 9, 7-9 PM. This will be a good one!

Geoffrey L. Barrows is founder of Centeye Inc, maker of small electronic "eyes" that can fly and see using a small camera.

In this talk Geoffrey will share the real story behind how they were able to make the entire 8-camera vision system weigh just 3 grams. It is a story about early successes, followed by Evil complexity creep, and then an 80/20 analysis (aided by wine) and brutal, unapologetic minimalism to get to a functional helicopter. Their path was non-linear, and the lessons can be applied to all sorts of projects.

About Geoffrey:

Geoffrey is founder of Centeye, a fabless semiconductor / robotics company that mostly makes vision sensors for tiny robots esp "drones". Much of their past work has been for the likes of DARPA and the Air Force, but more recently we are exploring the open source hardware markets as well as non-military drones (a more viable market IMO).
