🧯🚔 On May 31st, members of the Sandwich Police Explorer Post participated in a voluntary OC (pepper spray) exposure training.

Following a classroom lesson on OC spray, several Explorers chose to experience the effects firsthand in a controlled training environment. This training provided valuable insight into the effects of OC spray while reinforcing the importance of remaining calm, focused, and able to complete assigned tasks under stress.

We are proud of the professionalism, courage, and determination demonstrated by our Explorers throughout the training. While the experience was certainly challenging, each participant pushed through and successfully completed the exercise.

The Explorers handled the exposure exceptionally well. In fact, a few of them handled it so well they may have earned bragging rights over some officers—though we won't be naming names! 😄🚔

Hands-on training opportunities like this help prepare our Explorers for future careers in public safety while building confidence, resilience, and teamwork.

☕🚔 A huge thank you to Star 34 Cafè for partnering with the Sandwich Police Explorer Post and hosting our fundraiser on June 3rd!

Our Explorers had an amazing time serving customers, meeting members of our community, and representing the program throughout the day. It was a great opportunity for them to interact with so many people, build relationships within the community, and gain valuable experience.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who stopped by for breakfast, lunch, coffee, or simply to show their support. Your generosity helps provide training opportunities,and experiences for our Explorers.

Thank you again to Star 34 Café for their hospitality and support, and thank you to our community for making this fundraiser such a success!

The Sandwich Police Explorer Post 1251 is excited to partner with Star 34 Cafè for a special fundraiser benefiting our Explorer program.

⏰ Explorers will be serving and interacting with guests from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM

💙 10% of all sales throughout the day will be donated directly to the Sandwich Police Explorers.

Stop by for breakfast, lunch, or just a cup of coffee, meet our Explorers, and help support the future of our program and the opportunities it provides to local youth.

🚔 Sandwich Police Explorer Post Fundraiser 🚔

The Sandwich Police Explorer Post has been given the opportunity to attend a statewide Explorer competition this summer. During this event, our Explorers will compete against Explorer Posts from across Illinois in a variety of law enforcement-related scenarios that test teamwork, communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills.

For many of our Explorers, this is more than just a competition — it is an opportunity to challenge themselves, represent the City of Sandwich, and showcase the hard work and dedication they put into this program.

The total cost for this event is approximately $400 per Explorer, which covers registration, lodging, and food expenses during the competition. As a smaller program that operates largely through community support and advisor dedication, we are asking for help from our community to make this opportunity possible.

On May 21st, our Sandwich Police Explorers had the opportunity to travel to Joliet for a joint training with the Joliet Police Explorers Post #220 focusing on rapid response. 🚓 This was a great opportunity for our explorers to gain hands-on experience, strengthen teamwork, and learn alongside another outstanding explorer program.

We want to sincerely thank the Joliet Police Explorers and their advisors for allowing us to be part of this training. 🤝 We are grateful for the opportunity to train, learn, and build relationships with other explorer programs.

We look forward to continuing this relationship and working together again in future trainings. 👮

🚔 During our May 6th meeting, our Explorers trained on DUI investigations and alcohol impairment recognition.

Throughout the night, Explorers learned how officers identify impairment clues, reviewed real body camera footage, and applied their training through hands-on SFST and DUI investigation scenarios.

The Explorers did a great job recognizing both obvious and subtle indicators of impairment while maintaining professionalism during the practical exercises.

Thankfully the only bad driving during training was imaginary. 🚓👏

Yesterday’s meeting was a big day for our Explorer Post as we proudly promoted four Explorers into leadership positions within the program.

🔹 A. Arias — Promoted to Sergeant
🔹 J. Arias — Promoted to Corporal
🔹 A. Phillips — Promoted to Corporal

These promotions are a huge accomplishment within the Explorer Post and reflect the hard work, leadership, dedication, and professionalism each of these Explorers has shown throughout the program.

With these promotions, our command staff positions are now fully staffed. We are excited to see these Explorers continue to grow as leaders and help mentor the next generation within the post.
