15 minutes of Fire from The Chief

Notice to the public, The Puerco Valley Fire and EMS District is not shut down.

We had a staffing issue over the weekend and had to reach out to our mutual aid partners St. John’s fire, and Navajo nation EMS they are temporarily covering our district under a standard mutually agreement that has been in place for years.

We are not closing the doors or shutting down as of yet we are still trying to work closely with the Navajo nation governance to sign an IGA for a contract for Services and also looking at restructuring a payment to the Apache County Treasures Office to regain some of our tax levy.

I want to assure the people of Sanders that the Puerco Valley Fire and EMS District is not closing down please do not buy into rumors that you hear on Facebook. I will let everyone know if the efforts with the Navajo nation governance, and the Apache County Treasures Office fail and we do have to shut down. I will put out a public statement from the Chief. Anyone else you hear this from does not know what they are talking about.

Again, I thank you, Facebook fans, and community members for following us closely in this detrimental time that we are going through. We love the people of Sanders surrounding area and those areas of the Navajo nation that we cover and you will always be our first concern.

Thank you this message is from the Fire Chief directly anyone else is just gossip.

Today we got to have some much needed fun. We got to spray the school kids at the Sanders Elementary and Middle Schools. We look forward to this every year. The screaming and laughing from the kids just makes us smile.

We all love what we do and hope to be able to keep doing it ❤️❤️🚒🚑🔥

Here is an article about our situation. PLEASE share as much as possible to get the word out. We appreciate you all.

A financial problem that came into public view during an October, 2025 Apache County Board of Supervisors meeting has grown into an immediate public safety concern for the Puerco Valley

Notice to citizens of Puerco Valley Fire / EMS District
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions have been put in effect in both Apache and Navajo Counties.
Although we have very different typography than the southern portions of our county. We still have a high probability for a catastrophic wildfire in our areas such as around the Wide Ruins area or those areas with dead or dying pinyon pine or juniper. But even our vast grass and sage is very vulnerable with the high winds and lower relative humidity we are facing currently.
So please I ask all our folks in Sanders, Surrounding area, and those areas of the Navajo Nation we cover here at PVFD to be very cautious with any outside cooking or warming fires.
We partner with BIA with restrictions and even though the Navajo Nation has not issued a proclamation yet. !!! We are just asking our citizens to please be careful with any outdoor fires at this time.

Thank you
PVFD Fire Chief
Jerry McGraw

🚑❤️EMS WEEK 2026❤️🚑

This week, we recognize and celebrate the hard-working EMS professionals of Puerco Valley Fire District who answer the call day and night to serve our community.

Our EMS crews work long hours respond to emergencies at all times of the day, and are always ready when someone needs help most. We are incredibly proud of the dedication, compassion, and professionalism they show every single shift.

If you would like to show appreciation during EMS week, the community is always welcome to stop by the station with snacks, drinks, treats, or meals for our crews. Small gestures mean more than you know to the men and women working on the ambulance and fire units.

And if you can't bring anything, that's OK too-a simple "thank you" when you see our crews out in the community, at the store, getting fuel, or on calls can go a long way.

Please help us thank all EMS providers this week for everything they do for our community every day.

I wanted to share this with our viewers so you know that our LZ was not for a show but to save a life without saying too much our patient had a severe life threatening brain bleed that had we hesitated would have been fatal. I want to especially thank my awesome crew for picking up on the signs and making the right decision, and treating appropriately and rapidly. Prayers to the family she is doing fine.

"Greetings to you all. I wanted to share this information to you all but wanted to share on your post but wanted to be anonymous due to privacy for our family.
Our family is profoundly thankful for the compassion, support, and care you extended to our mother on April 30th at the Puerco Fire Department.

We express our heartfelt gratitude and blessings to the committed EMTs, flight paramedics, and helicopter pilots who deliver life-saving assistance during the most critical times. Their bravery, empathy, and professionalism guarantee safe and swift transport along with expert medical intervention.

Your professionalism and kindness during these alarming, high-pressure medical transports truly make a significant impact. May blessings of safety and strength be bestowed upon the flight crews and medical teams as they continue to serve their communities.

Are you able to share this without applying my profile?

As of today, our mom is improving day by day. Thank you to you all, our mom is alive. There are no words enough to let you all know how much we appreciate you."
