Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters in Van Zandt County.

The San Saba Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers of Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Deputy Adam Sherifi, who was killed in the line of duty last night while assisting the Canton Police Department.

We also stand with the Canton Police Department and pray for the officer who was wounded in the incident. We ask our community to keep that officer, their family, and all of the men and women of both agencies in their prayers during this difficult time.

The loss of a fellow law enforcement officer is felt deeply throughout the entire law enforcement family. We honor Deputy Sherifi’s service and sacrifice, and we will never forget the price he paid while protecting others.

Rest in peace, Deputy Sherifi. Your watch is over. We have it from here.
