Downtown San Jose Neighborhood Association:

Inform, engage and build community among downtown residents in order to ensure their voice is effectively represented to key stakeholders and partners. The SJDRA represents a diverse socio-economic group of residents of the downtown San Jose core and promotes a partnership with the city government and neighborhood businesses by participating in policy a

nd planning processes in order to encourage economic vitality, educate residents about neighborhood issues, and maintain and promote the downtown core as a livable, family-oriented community with a high quality of life. The authority, representation, and jurisdiction of this association is derived from the resident membership residing within the following boundaries:

Highway 280 (southern boundary) to Julian St.

What will happen to BART to San Jose extension? While BART is contemplating closure of 10 stations in Jan. 2027, surprisingly the Berryessa Station is not on the closure list. The completion date of extension to downtown San Jose, unfortunately, is being pushed back even further to 2036-37. It is questionable whether BART will still be a relevant mode of transportation by then.

Crews are working around the clock to set the stage for an enormous tunnel boring machine’s arrival.

Invisible Skies San José is a flash art event, created by San José locals carrying umbrella props. The filming of 2,000 participants will transform City Hall into an Observatory and turn San José residents into stars.

The Goal: Together with San José residents, we will create beautiful, inspiring and energetic city images for shared public spaces

Downtown Diwali and Halloween Festivities Light up San Jose

Recently, California made Diwali an official state holiday. In downtown San Jose, we’re excited to host the first ever Downtown Diwali Carnival and celebration tomorrow at the Plaza de César Chávez. Admission is free with registration.

This weekend, Halloween is also taking over downtown! Kids will love Tech or Treat and the Spooky Solar Critters Workshop at the Tech Interactive. Grown ups will enjoy Ashy Aromas Halloween-themed Fragrance Fridays event, the Trick or Drink: San Jose Halloween Bar Crawl and Symphony San Jose’s Bewitching Broadway show + costume contest. There are also two spooky fundraising galas to support: Local Color’s 31 Skulls Showcase and Auction, and New Ballet’s Halloween Gala and Dance Party.
