Happy 96th birthday to the Oracle of Ellis Street, Warren Buffett!

For more than 26 years, Warren has been part of the GLIDE family. It all started with his late wife, Susie Buffett, who volunteered with us and eventually introduced Warren to GLIDE.

Through the years, Warren’s legendary charity lunch auction brought people from around the world closer to our work and raised millions to support our community.

We’re grateful for his friendship, generosity, and all the love he’s shown GLIDE over the years.
Join us in wishing Warren a very happy 96th birthday in Omaha!

Today at Boeddeker Park in the Tenderloin, we showed what recovery in community can look like.

At our International Recovery Day Community Fair, GLIDE barbers provided free haircuts while our HEAT staff connected community members with recovery resources, support and Narcan.

Sometimes care starts with a haircut. Sometimes it’s a conversation, a connection to services or having Narcan when it’s needed most.

At GLIDE, we’re here to meet people where they are and make sure no one has to navigate recovery alone.

Today, we’re celebrating our 6th Annual Recovery Community Health Fair here at Boeddeker Park! Our barbers are helping our community look and feel their best with free haircuts throughout the day.

Ready to start your recovery journey? Come talk to us at GLIDE. We’ll help you take that first step.

This Recovery Month, Nathan Bronson, Treatment Coordinator with our HEAT department, shares how we help connect people to services at GLIDE and throughout the community.

Whatever recovery looks like for you, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

“Stop running scared and start running TOWARDS something.”

For Anthony, that meant leaning into his faith and music and completing the Salvation Army’s six-month Adult Rehabilitation Center program. His GLIDE case manager, Liz Oates, and other GLIDE staff were there to celebrate his graduation and the new chapter he is building.

Through GLIDE’s Health Empowerment and Access Team (HEAT), clients can access health services, connections to recovery programs and continued support from case managers who follow their progress every step of the way.

Over 100 people came through GLIDE's Health Hub yesterday for International Overdose Awareness Day. We honored those we've lost, connected with neighbors, and shared life-saving resources alongside UCSF AHP, Homeless Prenatal Program, and The Healing Well.

This is what community looks like. This is what hope looks like.

We’re grateful we could help Debbie safely reunite with her family and return to stable housing in Louisiana through our Journey Home program. Read her story from The San Francisco Standard by clicking the link in our comments below.

Recovery deserves to be celebrated.
Join us September 4 at Boeddeker Park for the 6th Annual Recovery Day. We’ll be out there with community partners, connecting people to resources, sharing stories and celebrating everyone who continues to choose recovery.
Come through from 12–3pm and be part of the day.

In honor of International Overdose Awareness Day, Xavier Davenport (Glide Foundation’s Assistant Director of Health Services) was our guest preacher at Glide Memorial Church today. His approach to healthcare embodies the Bible's advice to approach others with love rather than judgment. Christina LaCorte, a mother who lost a son to overdose, offered a moving witness about how community helps us move through grief.

Erin Carrera from the UCSF Roving Healthcare Initiative led a NarCan Overdose Reversal Training in Freedom Hall. We urge all of you to get trained and carry NarCan in your bag; you might save a life. The Glide Ensemble sang, "I need you to survive," in honor of this solemn day. Never forget; we all need each other to survive.
