Interfaith Shelter Network of San Diego

Interfaith Shelter Network of San Diego The Network consists of three programs:
The Rotational Shelter,El Nido Transitional Housing Program and Rapid Re-Housing Program.

They represent the work of more than 100 San Diego County congregations and 3,500+ volunteers who link to offer hands up to people seeking an end to their homelessness. Our volunteers and congregations collectively have sheltered more than 8,000 homeless people for more than 200,000 bed nights since 1986. More than half of our shelter guests leave our shelters for more permanent housing because of

the professional guidance they receive from our case management agencies and the personal attention they receive from Network volunteers. In our El Nido program, virtually all our families leave for their own permanent affordable housing, and the majority of mothers leave with increased income and additional career related skills. Our Mission

To coordinate the efforts of participating congregations, social service agencies, and governmental programs in order to provide shelter and other resources to homeless individuals and families and enable those we serve to move toward self-sufficiency. Our Vision

Our Vision is to eliminate homelessness in the urban communities of San Diego County through a cooperative partnership with faith-based communities, related government programs, and social service agencies. The Interfaith Shelter Network does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age or disabilities in hiring practice or provision of services. The Interfaith Shelter Network receives funding from the city and county of San Diego, the cities of Chula Vista, La Mesa Oceanside, San Marcos, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and private donations.

Sleep is essential. Good sleep can be hard to come by for DV survivors. With 3 new families moving into El Nido, we need 11 fresh mattresses. These families have escaped a traumatic home and we want them to find rest at El Nido.

We’ve raised $968 for new mattresses for these families and we need $1,216 more. Help us give these moms and kids what they need to facilitate a peaceful night’s sleep.

A senior in high school and in her final year with Girl Scouts Troop 4354, Julia Lockwood asked family and friends to purchase cookies for DV families if they wished to support the scouts. That’s more than just selling cookies. That’s using her platform to give back, show gratitude, and tangibly uplift others. What a thoughtful way to give back.

Thank you, Julia, for your kindness and generosity, and for setting such a powerful example of service and community spirit.
