This morning, Joseph Casillas Elementary School held a Patriot Day assembly featuring a student choir performance and special guests CDR Dennis Metz, USN, and U.S. Navy Veteran Erica Gomez-Battle. At last night’s meeting, the Board of Education recognized Teacher Jesse Rogers in celebration of Sound Station’s 2026 Innovate Honorable Mention Award, presented by the San Diego County Office of Education during the 23rd Annual Innovation in Education Awards ceremony.

In partnership with the of Chula Vista Government Public Library, Sound Station gives sixth-grade students the opportunity to explore careers by planning the components of a musical tour. From composing and producing music to designing promotional materials, they discover how their strengths and interests connect to careers in creative fields. Congratulations to Mr. Rogers and Sound Station on this recognition!
