💙 Build a sense of belonging

When students are at school, they have more opportunities to experience all of it.

Congratulations to RCSD Kaseberg and RCSD Jefferson for being named “Bright Spots” in literacy by The74!

The74, a news site focused on education, compared actual 3rd grade reading scores to their predicted reading scores. Kaseberg and Jefferson ranked in the top 5% out of 41,883 schools nationwide.

Check out these photos of Jefferson students cheering for their 3rd-grade teachers at an assembly, as well as a scene from Kaseberg’s Literacy Night. Thank you to all of the amazing RCSD educators who make their schools a “Bright Spot.”

September is Attendance Awareness Month!

At RCSD, we believe Every Day Matters. Every school day is an opportunity for students to learn, connect, participate and grow.

We know students will sometimes need to be absent. Our goal isn’t perfect attendance - it’s helping students attend school as consistently as possible.

This September, we are celebrating the difference that showing up can make.

Every student. Every day. Every opportunity.

“You are the first generation in history to grow up with AI and social media.”

This week, families and students at RCSD Westbrook got a masterclass on Digital Citizenship. Hip-hop artist and growth mindset educator Dr. Blake Brandes used music to teach students how to be kind online, and how kindness can help them reach their goals. Later, he spoke to families about how to collaborate with their children to create mindful technology use plans.

Sometimes it’s the little things that remind us why we do what we do. In this case, it’s a quiet moment between two kindergarten students at RCSD Diamond Creek School who chose to read an alphabet book together after school.

Here’s to a lifetime of curiosity and learning for all of our students! 📖

Before your child hops on their e-bike or scooter, make sure they RIDE SMART. 🚲

Safety is always our highest priority. Whether students are in the classroom, on the playground, or traveling to and from school, we want them to be safe, confident, and equipped to make responsible choices every step of the way.

As more students ride electric bikes, scooters, and other personal mobility devices to and from school, it is important that we work together to ensure they do so safely and responsibly. Many of the electric devices students are riding have age requirements, equipment requirements, or other legal restrictions under California law, and not every device is appropriate or legal for school-age riders.

To help educate students and families, RCSD has partnered with the City of Roseville and the Roseville Police Department to launch RIDE SMART Roseville, a community-wide safety initiative focused on helping students make informed, responsible decisions every time they ride.

To learn more about the campaign, explore safety resources, and review information about California laws and local expectations, visit our RIDE SMART webpage: rcsdk8.org/ride-smart-roseville.
