This Easter was a day to remember for the residents of Eden Gardens in Solana Beach who attend St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Kids Korps, the La Colonia teens and St. Leo’s Youth Group in partnership with Starbucks hosted an Easter Egg hunt for over 150 children! There were over 2000 eggs filled with candy spread all over for kids of all ages to run around and find! The Easter Bunny even made a special appearance to surprise the kids!

We want to say a huge thank you to Starbucks for giving us the opportunity to provide over 85 special prizes that were given to those who found an egg with a “golden ticket” inside. “You could see the children’s eyes light up as they searched for eggs. It was an incredible experience to provide such a fun day for so many amazing youth,” said Jaymye Ross The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito’s Volunteer Coordinator.

Hi Kids Korps Families and Friends,

Every year, the Youth Arts Academy hosts Commotion by the Ocean, YAA’s annual Rock Concert Fundraiser. This event is family and community friendly and gives 14 student created Rock Bands a stage and a chance to shine. We want to make this year bigger and better by inviting Jason Mraz to come out and headline for us! The kids look up to Jason and we hope he appreciates our remake of his song Lucky. Jason, can we count you in?

Keeping the community we live in clean and safe is one of the main things our teens at the Boys & Girls Club of San Dieguito are passionate about. On Friday January 23rd, three of our teen programs partnered up with Starbucks to clean up trash around the communities surrounding our branches in Carmel Valley, Solana Beach and Encinitas. Starbucks Partners (employees) came from all over San Diego to help out and give back. The teens helped to guide the younger members as they picked up countless pieces of trash around the surrounding communities and explained the importance of keeping our home clean. The younger members raced around trying to gather as many pieces as possible. We had over 100 members participate in the clean up and picked up over 20 bags of trash. Thank you Starbucks for providing us with the Teen Leadership Grant! We are excited for our 5 more service events with your awesome Starbucks partners!
