Please share with your neighbors and the Alpine Community. Alpine Fire Protection District is taking a position moving our community forward to match the risks and hazards that exist within the community. Alpine is one of the most at risk communities in the state. This notice is to give homeowners an opportunity to work towards compliance NOW. Beginning in 2026 if a homeowner request a burn permit, sells a property in Alpine proper, builds or remodels, complaint based, the property is subject to compliance with Zone 0 requirements. Alpine Fire is here to help on how to be compliant. We understand this may seem shocking. Understand all buildings are at risk and the community has significant threats. We all must do our part to create Defensible Space around buildings. This new Zone reduces direct flame impingement against the structure. Reduces potential for structure to ignite. Increases our FIREWISE resiliency and helps neighbors and neighborhoods be FIRE SAFE!!! Should you have ANY questions on Zone 0 contact Alpine Fire Protection District. Free chipping and Home Ignition Zone inspections are available

UPDATE!!!
Question was asked on where the "Risks" Map came from. Insurance companies use "Risks" maps to calculate your rates. They can use a map like this one which comes from https://wildfirerisk.org/explore/overview/06/06073/0600001192/ or FEMA maps - https://hazards.fema.gov/nri/map. These are NOT "Hazard" maps issued by Cal Fire Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps. A Home Ignition Zone assessment will assist the homeowner to determine your vulnerability against wildfire for "Risks" & "Hazards". A report is generated to help identify how to mitigate and lower both categories respectively. Any questions please come to the fire station, call our office, request an inspection. Education and Engineering a successful defensible space plan may be the difference on structure survivability and YOUR LIFE!
