Meet Nikki, a dedicated student and an accomplished rider! Nikki has been riding horses for five years, starting as a show jumper before discovering that her heart belongs in the Western world. About a year ago, she joined San Pasqual Valley Ranch and has made impressive progress ever since.

Today, Nikki competes in two major Junior Rodeo Association events as well as local rodeos. She and her horse, Kat, have earned points for the association through their hard work, dedication, and support from their amazing trainers and teammates.

Altus’ flexible program allows Nikki to prioritize her education while making time for training and competition, giving her the opportunity to grow both academically and as a rider.

We’re proud to support Nikki as she continues to grow, learn, and pursue her goals! 🌟

A beautiful day in Coronado became an opportunity for creativity, discovery, and hands-on learning! 📸🌴 During a recent photography field trip, students put concepts like composition, perspective, texture, the rule of thirds, and light and shadow into practice as they captured the world through their own creative lenses. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore, learn, and see our community in a whole new way.

We’re proud of the creativity, curiosity, and unique perspectives our students brought to every shot. Be sure to watch until the end to see some of their amazing photographs!

Recently, the Altus Schools staff was delighted to welcome our longtime friend and supporter, Senator Dede Alpert, for a visit!

For more than 30 years, Senator Alpert has been a supporter of Altus Schools. Her friendship with Altus Schools Founder Mary Bixby began during a dynamic and transformative time in California politics, when Dede served on the School Board of The Charter School of San Diego in 2014.

While many years have passed, both women remain deeply committed to serving their communities and creating positive change. Today, Dede serves on the Girard Foundation Board, while Mary continues to lead Altus Schools as Superintendent.

Their shared commitment to education, community, and positive change continues to inspire us, and we were thrilled to welcome Senator Alpert back to Altus!
