BCFS Health and Human Services established in 1944 is a non-profit organization with locations and nationally doing noble work across Texas and the United States, specializing in community-based care for at risk families and children (abused and/or neglected & domestic violence), prevention & early intervention services, housing for young adults aging out of the foster care system, mental healt

h & life skill services, advocacy and case management coordination for survivors of human trafficking, medical programs for women who are pregnant or post-partum, and serving families who have a child with a disability or special needs by providing them with an opportunity to visit the world’s first theme park designed with individuals with special needs in mind.

Our Story

BCFS Health and Human Services-San Antonio provides current and former foster youth with workforce services, dropout prevention activities, self-esteem and leadership activities, counseling, and other transition services that support healthy development. Youth receiving services are: - Between the ages of 16 and 25 - Currently in foster care - Aging out of foster care - Formerly in foster care but still need assistance - Foster youth on probation or parole - Foster youth released from juvenile correctional facilities Services provided include: - One-on-one assistance - Assessments to identify services that foster youth need - Job searches and job referrals - Career assessments - Mentoring - Identification of growth occupations in the local labor market - Job skills training and job placement - Preparation for Adult Living (PAL) - Kids Averted from Placement Services (KAPS) - University of Texas at San Antonio Housing and Education Assistance - Education and Training Voucher (ETV) Scholarship Program - The PREP Project
