The Chosen Life: Broken to Beautiful

The Chosen Life: Broken to Beautiful Broken to Beautiful begins when we surrender to Jesus all betrayal trauma stole from us—our security, sanity, hopes, dreams, and sense of self.

In Him, scars become healing, ashes become beauty, and brokenness becomes restoration.

The last time I looked at these stats, they were slightly lower. 😞 It’s surprisingly difficult to set up groups within the church. However, when you look at these stats, It explains a possible reason why.

This is such a powerful expression of what it feels like to operate in a relationship involving betrayal trauma.

If I could sum up this season in one word, it would be grief. Grief is a scary thing to a lot of people and is typically avoided at all costs. I propose that grief is actually a friend to be embraced. The Man of Sorrows is no stranger to grief, and He is the most beautiful example of how to hold grief’s hand and walk with it. Jesus didn’t run away from grief, He moved into it. He moves into our spaces of grief too. Allow Him to be a salve to your grief trodden soul today.

“When Jesus looked at Mary and saw her weeping at his feet, and all her friends who were with her grieving, he shuddered with emotion and was deeply moved with tenderness and compassion. He said to them, “Where did you bury him?” “Lord, come with us and we’ll show you,” they replied. Then tears streamed down Jesus’ face.”

The way Jesus thinks about us is so much more important than the way we feel about ourselves.

Spend time in the Word and change your mindset to reflect who HE says you are.

““Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Have you ever heard the phrase, “rope the wind”? An impossible task really. Yet, that’s what we do when fight battles that have already been won.

Worshipping this morning to a new song, God showed me a picture of what’s it’s like when we try to wrestle problems out of His victory and fight it ourselves. Not my battle. Not my fight.

God showed me a large tower that had looming shadows all around, yet inside was a glowing refuge. He showed me how I move from rest to reach out and try to grapple with the shadows. It looked futile really. And ridiculous because I was protected in this strong tower…my hiding place. God showed me He’s already fought those battles and won. That I was only seeing the residual…the shadows of the fight below, but not the actual fight. He showed me all I needed was to sit in the tower (Him) and rest and watch Him conquer. Why would I step away from His goodness and rest to a state of chaos to fight battles He’s already won?

Facing problems is every believers “problem”. However, God is protecting us, maturing us and showing us the possibilities in Christ in the midst of a problem. If we leave the Strong Tower to fight, we miss out on those possibilities.

God showed me from the vantage point of the tower, we only see the fight if we’re looking out the window and down.
Instead, we are to focus on Him, the possessor of all the possibilities in Christ.

What “problems” are you facing today? Try resting in Him and open your eyes to the possibilities He has for you in Jesus. And stop looking at the fight.

In Hebrew, the word migdal, which means “tower of strength”, has a homonym that means “bed of flowers”. Now how peaceful is that! So if you feel like you’re in a valley of problems, picture yourself resting in a bed of flowers with Jesus. Enjoy His presence.

“The character of God is a tower of strength, for the lovers of God delight to run into his heart and be exalted on high.”
