Converse Fire Department

Converse Fire Department In January of 1952, a group of 23 men organized the Converse Volunteer Fire Department. As Converse has grown, so has the Fire Department.

The Converse Fire Department has grown from an all volunteer staff to a staff of 36 paid firefighters with 2 Fire Stations. Converse is one of the busiest departments in Bexar County with notable rapid response time and was successful in lowering the city's ISO rating from a 4 to a 2 with a goal to go even lower in the near future. The Converse Fire Department services nearly 7 square miles within

the City Limits with an additional 6 1/2 square miles of ESD 1 in Unincorporated Bexar County totaling nearly 50,000 residents. Over the next 15 years the Converse Fire Department will be annexing nearly 26 square miles of area which will take the city to over 70,000 residents by the year 2032 and upwards of five fire stations. The Converse Fire Department has progressive SMOG’s with mechanical CPR devices and Lifepack 15 cardiac monitors. Converse is also a member of CESO. CESO is a combination of cities in the Northeast portion of San Antonio with rescue teams that are combined with members from the various departments that specialize in swift water, high and low angle rescue, trench rescue and a hazmat team to respond to specialized emergencies throughout our region. The City of Converse is growing. We hope that you would like to be a part of that growth and service our wonderful community.

Everyone please take note of this rapidly growing storm and its track. We could see some potential catastrophic rainfall this weekend.
Turn around, don't drown.

We have a serious situation unfolding for TX unfortunately. Harvey is rapidly intensifying this am as the pressure has dropped 11 mb in 4 hours. Winds are up to 60 mph and Harvey is on track to become a hurricane by this afternoon - much sooner than previously forecasted. It's now possible Harvey could reach CAT 2 or even CAT 3 before landfall tomorrow afternoon. Hurricane warnings have been issued for a portion of the TX coast. Residents in the path of should listen to their local emergency management & take necessary precautions. Now is the time to prepare. Please take this seriously. Track in great depth with our Hurricane Tracker at www.hurrtracker.com

C-Shift assisted Windcrest on this house fire yesterday afternoon. They encountered heavy fire conditions upon arrival coming from the attic. E-1 along with a crew from District 10 entered the structure and began to aggressively attack the fire. They were able to stop the fire before it extended to the second floor as well as the back of the home. There was a great effort from all departments to extinguish pesky hot spots and there were no reported injuries.
