I recently posted that my "clearance rate" for the first three months of having an individual 225th docket, but some of you may be wondering what that means and why is it important.

Clearence rates are a way of measuring the numbers of cases a court closes versus the number of new cases being filed. To calculate the clearence rate of a court you divide the number of cases disposed by the number of new cases filed

The Texas Supreme Court and the Texas Office of Court Administration have set an annual goal for each court to have an annual clearence rate of 100% but a benchmark of at least 90%.

A variety of things can affect a court's clearence rate but it can be a very good indicator that cases are being disposed efficiently.
