Arms of Comfort

Arms of Comfort Military and First Responder life is difficult. Arms of Comfort, want to show our appreciation! What is Arms Of Comfort?

Arms of Comfort began as a ministry that was established in 2004 by Esther Vargas and birthed through the passion and prayers of the local church at Southside Assembly of God in Savannah, GA. This Ministry was started with the desire to fill the need of the military and the constant need to support those families of deployed service members. Esther Vargas is a former Soldier, military child, military wife, and military mom. Her husband Francisco (Frank) Vargas has served on multiple combat tours, and retired from the Army in 2019 after 31 years of service. Both Frank and Esther desire to share their experience and love of the Lord, and His Word with others seeking a place of comfort and support. Arms of Comfort was reestablished as a Ministry at Calvary Temple Church (CT|Church), San Antonio, TX, in January of 2023. Arms of Comfort has included First Responders and their families. The Military and First Responder way of life is a unique way of life. It is a unique culture that faces challenging needs and issues associated with a life of service. Frank and Esther Vargas led this ministry, and are both Ordained Ministers through the Assemblies of God. Arms of Comfort is no longer a ministry of CT|Church, and has become its own entity. On February 4, 2025, Arms of Comfort officially became a Non-Profit Corporation in the state of Texas, with its official name being, "Arms of Comfort - Serving Those Who Serve". Arms of Comfort - Serving Those Who Serve, is a tax-exempt non-profit organization under the US IRS Code 501(c)(3). OUR MISSION
To reach and restore those that are hurting through the love and power of Jesus Christ, by serving as a bridge between those who serve and the local church. We will provide a caring environment for Military Service Members, First Responders, Veterans and their Families through community, fellowship and sound Biblical doctrine. We shall provide this caring environment by facilitating group sessions that assist in identifying and coping with the effects of service-related trauma.
