Today I attended the Senior Walk at Jackson-Keller Elementary. It was so great seeing all the graduating seniors who began their education at Jackson-Keller. Congratulations to everyone!

I also had a reunion with a young man I got to know when he was in the 1st grade and I was a "classroom friend" in Mrs. Gonzalez's class, something I did for three years. Jeshua was a kind, thoughtful, loving boy that I helped with reading. Reconnecting with him and his mom today was so special and brought back so many sweet memories. What a day!

This morning I was a judge at the Jackson-Keller Elementary Fairy Tale Bowl. Scoring six rounds of questions to five teams of 2nd graders along with three lightning rounds about the fairy tales they had been reading was fun! Castle Hills City Manager Chris Duque and Castle Hills Woman’s Club member Ana Frias were also judges, and CHWC member Judy Crawford was in charge of the lightning round bell - it was great “working” with them. Way to go, Bowl contestants!

Congratulations to Castle Hills resident Imelda Gonzalez, who was installed as President of the Rotary Club of San Antonio North Central on Monday night. The Club is already on the way to a great year of service, camaraderie and fun. Imelda would love to tell you more about Rotary and the Rotary Club of San Antonio North Central. It’s been a busy last few weeks. CounciImember Beth Daines and I attended the TML Small Town Conference in Fredericksburg. Presenters and people from all over Texas, elected officials and staff members, provided great information, insights and ideas to help equip us to be better at our jobs and be better leaders.

Our cities, while different, are alike in many ways - all have much to be proud of as well as many of the same day-to-day situations, and from what I observed, good people bringing their best to make a positive difference where they are.

Have you seen how many of our Castle Hills restaurants have been in the news lately? From “Best” in several categories in the Express-News, to television appearances, and now several “Hidden Gems” (with Thai Topaz on the coverof the article) in the SA Current. How great is that? Let’s eat!

And, watch for a Gelato/Coffee/Pastry spot in Castle Hills opening later this month on NW Military. Yum!

San Antonio has a lot of strip malls. While they may not be the prettiest sight, they harbor a lot of high-caliber restaurants you might otherwise miss.
