🚨 The Petition Drive Starts Saturday! 🚨

On Monday night, corrupt politicians voted to strip collective bargaining and binding arbitration protections from Salisbury’s city workers, firefighters, and police officers.

Now it’s our turn. Starting Saturday, we will begin collecting signatures to put this issue on the ballot so the people of Salisbury can decide for themselves.

Join us this Saturday, May 30:
Cannon Building 106 N. Circle Ave., Salisbury

12:00 PM - Volunteer Training
1:00 PM - Canvassing & Petition Collection

Whether you want to collect signatures, knock doors, or simply sign the petition, we need your help.

If you are a registered voter who lives in Salisbury and want to sign the petition but cannot make it downtown, fill out our interest form and we’ll come to you:

Important: Filling out the interest form does NOT count as signing the petition. A physical signature is required under the City Charter.

We have just 40 days to collect just over 3,000 of signatures. This campaign will only succeed if working people, first responders, city workers, retirees, families, and neighbors come together.

We often focus all our energy on the biggest names at the top of the ticket, but the decisions that shape our everyday lives happen right at the bottom. From local funding to community policies, your local vote is your loudest voice.

**Important Dates to Remember:**

**Voter Registration Deadline:** Just TWO days away!

**Maryland Primary Voting Timeline:** The official countdown and voting dates have been posted!

Make sure you are registered, informed, and ready to make a difference from the top of the ballot all the way down. Read our latest blog post on the website for the full schedule and why this election cycle, starting with the primaries, is so vital for our community:

It It’s that time. I am getting more and more requests for signs. The reason I haven’t released them yet is because I have been sitting really hard with the idea of signs. I’ve mentioned before that it blows my mind on how much a campaign costs.Let me share a little on how my brain works? Here you go:

WHAT!? $10 for a sign? A sign that will be thrown in the trash and help fill up our already filled landfill. Seems like such a waste of resources.

How can I ask people for money to fundraise when so many are struggling to pay bills!?!? Aren’t there so many organizations that need their contribution? I don’t want people to fell like they can’t help without a sign. Is there an another way?

Signs…ugh. Such a popularity contest. Why does it have to be a popularity contest? Do people even look into who the candidates are?? Or do they just vote for the sign they see the most of?

These are three thoughts that have been turning over and over again in my brain. How do I solve some of these issues?

With the signs: I can’t change the price but I can change the purpose. I’ve created my traditional sign of course but I also created a whole collection of signs that can stand alone or go with my traditional sign. Signs that actually have a purpose beyond getting my name out there. Signs that you can take a little bit of what you want to fight for or against in our community. Signs that make a difference too.

If you are an organization that supports my hope for healing and community and would be okay for me to link you from my website I would love to do so!

Fundraising: If you can’t donate I don’t want you to feel that you aren’t able to help. Campaigns do require money to do certain things but what I also need is willingness to listen, to ask questions, and to have real conversations with me.

Do you have time to host a small house gathering?

Are you part of a local club or organization that would welcome a conversation?

Are you a parent who wants to meet up at the park while the kids play and just talk?

This campaign for me is about connection, not transactions. It’s about building something real, together. And that starts with showing up and having honest conversations.

The popularity contest: In a world where it can feel like everyone is trying to buy your attention, I’m just not okay with that. Every time I see massive campaign signs, I can’t help but think about how much hard-earned money goes into that. Time is money. YOUR TIME is money. When a bag a chips is almost as much as some people make in a hour it just feels wrong. If you want a giant sign and can donate to the campaign for it…AWESOME! They are about $100 each for the sign and materials to install.

BUT that’s not how I want to earn your vote.

I don’t want to earn anyone’s support just because they saw my name on a sign somewhere. That will never sit right with me. It can start to feel like a contest of who can spend the most, and that’s not who I am or how I want to do this.

I want you to know me. I want you to feel comfortable asking me the hard questions. I want you to understand why I care so much about this community and what I’m trying to do. That matters more to me than anything I could put on the side of the road.

This only works if it’s real. And real starts with people, not signs.
So if you’ve got a little time… I’d love to spend it with you. If you want a sign…we can make that happen too.

Let me know which one you’d want!

Food for thought: What do you think of this statement?

I don’t agree with this statement at all. The more I have gone through the more empathy i feel. How can you not have empathy for situations when you’ve been through them? How can you not have empathy when you know that someone or something helped you get through it. If people think we can do things alone they don’t know the power of doing things together. I can look back at every heartache and challenge in my life and think about who or what got me through it.

You?
