North Lancaster Neighborhood Association

North Lancaster Neighborhood Association The North Lancaster Neighborhood Association (NOLA) is one of the 19 neighborhood associations officially recognized by the City of Salem.

The North Lancaster Neighborhood Association Meets on the First Tuesday (CHANGE effective 3/2026) of the month at 6:30 pm at First Free Methodist Church - 4455 Silverton Rd NE (enter through east entrance off 45th) We are recognized by and receive staff support from the City, but, importantly, we are self directed. We elect a chairperson and board to set an agenda and conduct business. NOLA has le

gal standing in all land use matters that affect our area and has the opportunity to comment on a variety of issues affecting our community. Neighborhood associations are a vehicle for getting things done. If you want a say in what is affecting your neighborhood, NOLA has far greater power to effect those changes as an advocate for you before Salem Police Department, City Council, Salem Planning Commission, and other official bodies.

I wanted to advise Ward 6 residents and beyond about some serious weather heading our way this week. We've got another atmospheric river system moving in, and this one's going to pack a punch with both strong winds and heavy rain.

Tonight through Wednesday morning, we're expecting some pretty strong winds. Gusts could hit 35-40 mph, possibly higher. That's the kind of weather that can snap branches and knock out power, especially with trees already weakened from previous storms.

Then comes the rain. Starting Wednesday through Friday, we could see anywhere from 3 to 5 inches, with the worst of it hitting Thursday morning through early Friday. The Willamette is expected to rise significantly, from about 10 feet now to around 22 feet by the weekend, which puts us right at Action Stage.

A few things I hope you'll do:
- Bring in anything from your yard that could blow around
- Make sure your phone's charged and maybe dust off that flashlight
- If you can, avoid being out on the roads Thursday into Friday
- Check in on your neighbors, especially our seniors who might need a hand

Stay dry, stay safe, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need help. You can reach City of Salem Public Works Dispatch 24/7 at 503-588-6311. Report any problems with power lines or outages to Portland General Electric at 503-228-6322.
