We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to the Salem High School S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) for their hard work and thoughtful planning of the recent mock drunk driving event.

Programs like this serve as a powerful reminder of the very real consequences that can come from reckless decisions behind the wheel. Operating a vehicle while impaired or driving carelessly doesn’t just put the driver at risk—it endangers passengers, pedestrians, and entire communities.

We are proud to support initiatives that educate and empower students to make safe, responsible choices. Your efforts help save lives.

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to Salem Middle School for allowing us to be a part of Career Day!

School Resource Officer Pennington and Captain Cauble truly enjoyed their time with the students, sharing information about our department and what a career in law enforcement looks like. It was a great opportunity to connect, answer questions, and hopefully inspire some future members of our profession.

We appreciate the invitation and the opportunity to spend time with such a great group of students. Thank you again, Salem Middle School!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Hoosier Uplands, Eric Zink, and David Miller for their generous donation of $6,600 toward the purchase of 800 MHz in-car radios for our officers.

This contribution will greatly enhance our department’s ability to communicate effectively, not only within our agency but also with surrounding counties’ law enforcement partners. Reliable communication is critical to ensuring officer safety and providing the best possible service to our community.

We truly appreciate your support and commitment to helping us better serve and protect.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT: Fraudulent Traffic Violation Text Messages ⚠️

Our department has been made aware of a scam circulating in our community involving text messages claiming to be from the court about an unpaid traffic violation.

The message may include an image similar to the one shown below that appears to be an official notice from the court and often directs recipients to scan a QR code or click a link to pay a fine.

đźš« This is a scam.

Scammers are attempting to create documents that look official in order to trick people into sending money or providing personal information.

Please remember:
• Courts do not send traffic violation notices by text message.
• Do not scan QR codes or click links from unexpected messages.
• Do not provide personal or payment information in response to these messages.

If you receive one of these texts:
- Do not respond.
- Do not click the link or scan the QR code.
- Delete the message.

🚓❄️ Roads Are Bad. Like… Really Bad. ❄️🚓

Our county is officially in the RED travel zone. If you’re thinking about going for a cruise just to “see how the roads are,” we already know how they are—and we promise we’ll end up spending quality time together on the roadside.

Do us all a favor: stay home, stay warm, and save the driving for another day. Emergencies only, please. If you truly need us, don’t hesitate to call.

❄️ Snow Storm Reminder ❄️

A significant winter storm is expected in our area this weekend. If you can, please stay home and off the roads until conditions are deemed safe. Your safety is our top priority.

While the snow is falling, our officers will be patrolling the community and responding to calls, working alongside other emergency services to keep everyone safe.

We ask the community to stay home, and off the roadways if possible, we understand snow days do not change work schedules sometimes.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe during this winter weather. Stay warm! And as always, if you have an emergency or need police assistance, we will always be available through snow and harsh road conditions.
