We can't wait to watch the Summer Solstice Sunrise at America's Stonehenge later this month!
The ancient structures at America's Stonehenge, like this impressive monolith, function as a giant astronomical calendar by tracking the movement of the sun, moon, and stars. The longest day begins right over the top of this stone, which marks the most northerly sunrise of the year when viewed from the central viewing area at the Main Site. The sun then travels across the sky, arriving at its highest point above the South Facing Chamber before concluding its journey many long hours later over the Summer Solstice Sunset Monolith.
America's Stonehenge will be open all day, from sunrise to sunset, to witness these astronomical events. Visit the museum in Salem, New Hampshire on June 21st to take part in the annual celebration of this ancient holiday!
