We’re investing in the future of downtown!

Today, at the Housing and Redevelopment Authority meeting, we approved guidelines for a $5 million investment in downtown infrastructure.

This is about turning vacant spaces into opportunity—for residents, businesses, and our community.

Saint Paul City Council just took action to help keep residents housed. In a unanimous vote, the Council passed a temporary 60-day pre-eviction notice extension starting mid-May through the end of 2026.

Families need more time to access rental assistance, and the Council is honoring its commitment to do all it can to protect residents during this difficult time.

Stable housing = stable communities—and that’s what we value.

Yesterday, the Saint Paul City Council introduced ORD 26-18, which would temporarily extend the pre-eviction notice period to 60 days.

Councilmember Kim, along with Council Vice President Yang and Councilmember Coleman, are leading this work and prioritizing the protection of renting families and working to ensure residents can stay housed during this incredibly challenging time.

The Council recognizes that many families were harmed by Operation Metro Surge and wants to do what it can to support those affected. This ordinance is intended to give families more time to access resources and work toward addressing rental obligations while remaining in their homes.
