🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈Happy Pride Month from the MNQT team and Governor Walz! Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate the joy within LGBTQIA2S+ communities and honor the many advocates and organizations who have shaped this movement.

While we're proud of our progress and leadership in Minnesota, there is always more work to do, and MNQT is proud to support that work every day through our mission to advance economic, social, legal, and political equality for LGBTQIA2S+ Minnesotans.

This month and throughout the summer and fall, we look forward to celebrating with communities across the state while continuing our work to help ensure Minnesota is a welcoming and supportive place for LGBTQIA2S+ people today and for generations to come. Happy Pride, Minnesota! ❤️

➡️Wednesday, April 8th 2026: Two bills protecting LGBTQIA2S+ Minnesotans from conversion “therapy” were heard and passed today in Senate HHS and referred to Judiciary and Commerce.

Conversion “therapy” is a discredited and unethical practice. These bills hold professionals accountable when harm is inflicted and prohibit insurance dollars from use for unsafe and ineffective practices.

Yesterday at the Minnesota Legislature, proposals were brought forward that would have restricted inclusion for transgender athletes and limited access to gender-affirming care.

These efforts did not advance.

Even so, moments like this are harmful to transgender, non-binary, and Two-Spirit Minnesotans who continue to be the subject of policy debates that question their participation in community life.

Under Minnesota law, transgender, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people are protected from discrimination and deserve to be seen, respected, and valued as part of our communities.

Transgender people have always existed and always will.

The Council on LGBTQIA2S+ Minnesotans stands with transgender, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people across our state and remains committed to advancing policies that support safety, dignity, and opportunity for all LGBTQIA2S+ Minnesotans.

Thank you to the legislators who stood up for human rights, inclusion, and our beloved LGBTQIA2S+ neighbors.

This Wednesday, April 8th the Minnesota Senate Health and Human Services Committee will hear two bills that regulate the harmful and discredited practice of conversion “therapy”
- SF4706 provides a cause of action to hold practitioners of conversion “therapy” accountable for harm
- SF4707 prohibits health plans from providing coverage for conversion “therapy”

🌈MNQT and advocates will continue to push for every tool available to protect Minnesotans from these unethical practices.
🌈We stand with survivors and our beloved LGBTQIA2S+ community who are perfect and whole the way they are.

🏳️‍⚧️Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) is an annual day to celebrate and recognize the lives, leadership, and contributions of transgender, Two-Spirit, non-binary, and gender-expansive people and to recommit ourselves to advancing equity and justice so all transgender people can live openly and visibly without fear.

🏳️‍⚧️Today, we recognize the ways trans communities have long led with creativity and care, building networks of advocacy, mutual aid, and community support, especially where broader systems have fallen short. Today also comes alongside a significant U.S. Supreme Court decision striking a law protecting youth from conversion therapy. Conversion therapy is harmful, ineffective, and widely rejected by every major medical and mental health organization. This ruling is a setback, but we will not be deterred. Here in Minnesota, we will continue to fight for visibility and for affirming, supportive care so that everyone can live safely, freely, and authentically.

🏳️‍⚧️And thank you to Outfront Minnesota for hosting an early TDOV celebration last week, where we heard from incredible state leaders including MNQT Council Chair Theo Casio, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Representatives Leigh Finke and Brion Curran. It was a beautiful day to be in community.
