If your dog tests positive for Canine Brucellosis, a weighty decision awaits you. Brucellosis can’t be cured. The Minnesota Board of Animal Health has specific guidelines in place to help curb the spread of the disease. Animals testing positive must be euthanized or quarantined for the remainder of their lives. It’s a heartbreaking situation no one wants to face. That’s why it’s so important to ask health questions to assess a dog’s risk before adopting.

High Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) has once again been found in Minnesota. Despite declaring freedom from the disease in August, routine surveillance detected a case in Wright County. The Board, along with our response partners, will continue to monitor, track, and eliminate HPAI wherever it appears in our state. Did you know Minnesota recently had its first 2026 case of West Nile Virus in a horse? The best way to keep your horses catching disease from mosquitoes is to keep them from getting bitten.
