Earlier this month I hosted Representative Spencer Igo in St. Louis Park as part of the Citizens League Minnesota Legislative Exchange program. This first-in-the-nation initiative pairs state legislators from opposite political parties to visit one another’s districts and build the cross-party relationships that are essential for problem solving in the legislature and Minnesota.
We had a great day, and I want to thank Representative Igo and all of the St. Louis Park leaders that joined or hosted our meetings. I think we gave him an excellent view into our unique and wonderful community and some of the challenges we have faced and are facing. We did not shy away from challenging topics, including the impact of Metro Surge, federal cuts to SNAP and healthcare, small business concerns, affordability, impact of forests fires, nuclear energy, and more. We even came away with some ideas on bills we could work on together.
Our itinerary included the Beltline development at the new light rail station, Rec Center & the ROC, Pavek Museum, Westwood Hills Nature Center, STEP, West End, Walker-Lake, and a couple of local restaurants.
I look forward to visiting Rep Igo on the Iron Range, likely next month!
