Happy 251st Birthday, U.S. Army!

Since June 14, 1775, America's Soldiers have stood watch over our nation, defending freedom at home and abroad.

Today we honor all who have served and those who continue to serve in the United States Army. Thank you for your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our country.

Today we honor the Stars and Stripes - Old Glory, the Star-Spangled Banner, our Red, White, and Blue.

Since June 14, 1777, the American flag has stood as a powerful symbol of freedom, unity, sacrifice, and hope. It represents the courage of those who have defended our nation, the values that bind us together, and the enduring spirit of the United States.

Today, and every day:

Fly it proudly.
Display it respectfully.
Teach its meaning to the next generation.

"The flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of every soldier who died protecting it."

Episode 6 Flag Etiquette & History: The Meaning Behind the Colors of Old Glory

When we look at the American flag, we see more than red, white, and blue, we see the values that have guided our nation throughout its history.

πŸ”΅ Blue represents truth, loyalty, and fidelity - the steadfast commitment Americans have shown to one another and to the ideals of our nation.

βšͺ White conveys purity, light, and peace - a reminder of the principles and aspirations that unite us.

πŸ”΄ Red stands for courage, valor, and strength - qualities demonstrated by generations of Americans who have defended our freedoms and served their communities.

Together, these colors tell a story of a nation built on enduring values and a people dedicated to liberty, justice, and service.

As we approach Independence Day, take a moment to reflect on what the Stars and Stripes mean to you.

Flag Education Series – Episode 5: Who Salutes During the Pledge?

When reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, many Americans wonder: *Who should salute and who should place their hand over their heart?*

βœ… Civilians stand at attention facing the flag with their right hand over their heart.

βœ… Men wearing a non-religious hat or cap remove it and hold it over the left shoulder with the hand over the heart.

βœ… Active-duty military personnel in uniform render the military salute.

βœ… Veterans and members of the Armed Forces not in uniform are authorized to render the military salute during the Pledge of Allegiance if they choose.

No matter how you participate, the most important thing is to stand respectfully and honor the flag and the freedoms it represents.
