Reed Hjort Newly Elected To The St Helens School Board Position 4

Reed Hjort Newly Elected To The St Helens School Board Position 4 I am honored to have been elected to the St. Helens School Board. We have important work ahead, and I am committed to serving our community with transparency.

For questions, please contact me at [email protected]
or (503) 410-4472. I am honored to announce I am running for St. Helens School Board, Position 4. My desire to run for School Board is driven by my commitment to transparency, accountability, and the well-being of students, families, and staff within the district. My wife and I have lived in this amazing community for nine years. We ha

ve four children and five grandchildren, and are happily anticipating the arrival of our 6th grandchild in March. We have been dedicated foster parents in Columbia County. I hold a business degree from college and currently serve as a Senior Construction Manager, where I oversee the building of fiber networks in various cities. My role involves working closely with municipalities for permitting and restoration efforts. I have seen firsthand experience with the challenges and strengths of the local education system as the parent of four children, two of whom are still at home. I believe our students, families, and staff are incredible, but they have been underserved for far too long. We must ensure a safe, supportive, and accountable school environment where learning thrives. Our schools should be places where students feel safe, teachers feel supported, and parents feel heard and I am committed to ensuring our district prioritizes education, safety, and accountability. I am looking forward to representing you. If you would like more information about my goals for the St. Helens Schools, please contact me at 503-410-4472

Congratulations officer Coy.

Congratulations to St. Helens Police Department Officer Jamin Coy on reaching 10 years of service with the City of St. Helens. Officer Coy was recognized for his length of service at today's City Council meeting. He was hired in July 2015 as a patrol officer where he continues to serve today.

Thank you.

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who voted for me. I’m truly humbled by the support and trust you’ve placed in me.

Tonight, the newly elected school board members will be sworn into office. I’m honored to begin this journey and recognize there will be a learning curve as we grow into our roles. I’m especially looking forward to working alongside our new superintendent, Dr. Koreen Barreras-Brown.

If you’re able to attend tonight’s board meeting, I encourage you to come. Your voice matters. Please continue to speak up, share your concerns, and stay engaged—we’re all in this together.

Thank you again,
Reed Hjort

Just a quick note to let you know I’ll be traveling for work and won’t be able to attend the May 28 board meeting in person. I’ll do my best to join via the video link, but cell service might be spotty.

Thanks for your understanding!
Best,
Reed

I’m truly honored to have the endorsement of the St. Helens Education Association. I know some have questioned my decision to accept it, so I want to be clear: I believe in listening first and speaking honestly. I've been a union member and managed a union shop—I understand the importance of contracts, working conditions, and fair representation. My goal is to rebuild trust through open, respectful dialogue. I value the work you do and would welcome the chance to meet in person, hear your concerns, and learn how I can better support you.
