Happy 250th, America! Give Your Land a Hand This Fourth!

Before lighting fireworks, make sure you are in a location where they are safely and legally permitted.

Under Washington County’s current Stage 1 fire restrictions, fireworks and pyrotechnics are prohibited outside city limits and on public lands.

View the County restrictions here:

Want to know where fireworks may be permitted within your city? Check approved areas and current restrictions here:

Where fireworks are allowed, keep water nearby and clean up all spent fireworks, cardboard and other debris when the celebration is over.

Celebrate responsibly. Leave no litter behind. Give Your Land a Hand! 🎆

We just received the following message about an upcoming cleanup event in Confluence Park. We are spreading the word to help drum up more support for the 4H kids.

"Confluence Park Trail Cleanup

We are a service organization and we have an easy trash cleanup project this Friday, January 2, 2026. Come to Confluence Park on Friday at 9:15 with rakes, gloves and flat blade shoves. We will park at Hurricane Main Street Trailhead. There’s a small dirt parking lot at the very end of Main Street. There are restrooms at the parking area.

This is a small project raking the glass chips, picking up litter and small debris pieces of metal from the old dump. If you have empty grain/feed bags, bring them; we have some and a wheelbarrow. It’s a little bit of a hike back to the trail.

Please join us for 2-3 hours of trail cleaning to clock in those volunteer hours and telling tall tales of your 2025 adventures.
DIRECTIONS: If heading east on SR-9, turn left onto Main Street (you would turn right here if going to Kanab). Stay on Main Street, it ends at the trailhead. IF coming south from La Verkin, turn right onto E 500 N, go past the Hurricane City Cemetery, the street turns into 600 N. At Main Street, turn right and go to the end to the dirt parking lot.

If it rains, the event will be rescheduled but it looks good as this is written.
