Saginaw Bay and River AOC

Saginaw Bay and River AOC Public Advisory Council for the Saginaw Bay and River Area of Concern Our Purpose

Restore: Address legacy pollution, habitat loss, and shoreline degradation.

Where Water, Community, and Restoration Meet

Our Identity
The Saginaw Bay AOC is more than a designation—it’s a promise. We are a coalition of citizens, scientists, tribal nations, local leaders, and agencies working together to heal one of the Great Lakes’ most vital freshwater ecosystems. Protect: Safeguard drinking water, fisheries, and wetlands that sustain both people and wildlife. Connect:

Ensure that decisions about the Bay reflect the voices of local communities, industry, and future generations. Our Vision
A cleaner, healthier Saginaw Bay—where fish are safe to eat, beaches are safe to swim, and the water reflects the resilience of the people who call this place home. Our Commitment
We exemplify collaboration, stewardship, and accountability. Every meeting, every project, every voice contributes to transforming an Area of Concern into a place of shared pride.

Canada and the United States work together through the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement to keep the Great Lakes clean and healthy. Every three years, the International Joint Commission (IJC) assesses progress towards the Agreement’s goals for drinkable, fishable, swimmable Great Lakes. Share your perspective on how the governments are doing to restore, protect and enhance Great Lakes water quality. Your input helps inform the IJC’s independent advice to both governments.
