Vice Mayor Karina Talamantes

Vice Mayor Karina Talamantes City of Sacramento Councilmember of District 3 representing Natomas, Northgate, and Gardenland. These lessons helped shape her values and career path.

As the daughter of working-class parents Magdalena & Reginaldo, Karina witnessed firsthand the hard work and sacrifice needed to reach goals. As a result, Karina has become a tireless public servant who understands that even minor efforts can yield significant results. Actions like picking up the phone to call constituents, a new stop sign, a community event, or simple translation efforts can make

a difference. Councilmember Talamantes is honored to represent the communities of the newly redrawn District 3 of the City of Sacramento - Natomas, Northgate, and Gardenland.

Such a lovely Tower Bridge Dinner last night celebrating Sacramento as America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital!

We may be one of California’s top 10 largest cities, but Sacramento still feels like a small town to me. We are surrounded by agricultural land and small towns that help feed our region and the world.

This event helps fund College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) scholarships at Sacramento State for the children of migrant farm workers. Thank you Visit Sacramento for bringing everyone together.

Congratulations to the Class 26-1 of the Sacramento Fire Department’s Single Role Academy. They spent these past weeks running through medical and trauma scenarios, learning the equipment you will rely on, completing driver training, and preparing for the unpredictable moments that come with responding to emergencies. They are now ready to serve the City of Sacramento in our EMS Division.

🌿 Name That Trail! 🌿

North Natomas Jibe is working with the community to name an unnamed trail that runs alongside I-5 between Del Paso Road and north of San Juan Road. The trail connects people to restaurants, hotels, the Centene Campus, Costco and more, and its future sections will carry the same name as the trail network continues to grow.

Jibe gathered input from stakeholders connected to the trail and surrounding area to develop a short list of names inspired by local flora and fauna. Now it’s your turn to help choose the name!

🗳️ Voting is open now through 5 PM on September 15. 🗳️

I was honored to attend the Natomas Teeyan Empowerment Event and share some exciting news! Our community was so happy to hear that during the 2026–27 school year, LEAP Academy will offer a new Punjabi Language and Culture course for TK–6 students at five elementary schools.

Thank you to the leadership of Trustees Sumiti Mehta and Commissioner Satty Rai for helping make this possible and allowing me to be a small part of it. Representation matters, and I’m excited for our students to learn about and celebrate the diverse cultures that makes our Natomas community so special! ❤️

Joined the United Healthcare Workers with Councilmember Mai Vang this morning at Mercy Hospital to address layoffs and patient care. Our healthcare workers were on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and took care of us. They are still our every day heroes and deserve all the support we can give them. 💜

Attended President Luke Wood’s Fall Address at Sacramento State this morning. Sacramento State received nearly $150 million in funding to construct a new, state-of-the-art engineering building. Sacramento is on the move! As an Aggie I’m cheering for our Sac State Hornets.
