They told us to stay quiet. Instead, we’re running for office and building power.

LGBTQ+ Victory Institute is helping LGBTQ+ leaders answer the call to serve through training, mentorship, and a community that has your back.

From 450+ trainees this year to new programs for trans candidates, the pipeline is stronger than ever. And it’s only the beginning.

LGBTQ+ candidates have been motivated to run for political office across the country by recent backsliding on q***r rights nationally, but also by local issues important to their communities.

LGBTQ+ Victory Fund in Chicago was full of energy, community, and inspiration!

We’re so grateful to former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfootoot and Illinois State Rep. Kelly Cassidy for lighting up the room with their powerful words about building LGBTQ+ political power. 💬🔥

A special thank you to Midwest Caucus Chair JinSoo Daniel Huh and Victory Campaign Board member Victor Ravago for their tireless support in making this event possible.

Let’s keep the momentum going — the Midwest is ready to win! 💪

What an amazing (and busy!) Pride Month at our LGBTQ+ Victory Institute and LGBTQ+ Victory Fund!

We were fortunate to connect with our community in so many ways this Pride:

🇮🇪 Hosted our LGBTQ+ elected officials and leaders Pride reception with Irish Ambassador Geraldine Byrne Nason at her gorgeous residence. Many thanks to the Ambassador, her team and our partners for an amazing event.

🇲🇽🇨🇴🇵🇪 Released one of two landmark reports on LGBTQ+ political trends, one highlighting political participation in Latin America and the Caribbean, featuring the incomparable work of our Institute's global team.

🇺🇸 The second report, Out for America 2025, the Institute's annual census of LGBTQ+ representation in the U.S., was released, showing increased diversity in our elected officials. 1,334+ and proud!💪🏽 We also launched our first-ever LGBTQ+ Political Power list of 26 political changemakers, a fraction of our enormous talent.

🎤🗯️ We convened a panel of international LGBTQ+ political leaders - Rep. Julie Johnson of Texas, Congresswoman Susel Paredes of Peru, Congressman Jaime Lopez Vela of Mexico and European MP Alessandro Zan of Italy to discuss how LGBTQ+ politicians are fighting for rights globally.

📆 We held events in New York, D.C, and Silicon Valley and even attended Gina Ortiz Jones's inauguration as the first LGBTQ+ Mayor of San Antonio, Texas.

📢We shared the story of Victory Fund & Institute at the Lincoln Memorial and marched for our rights and freedoms in the World Pride parade.

This month, I can't help but think of Obergefell's 10th anniversary and how important LGBTQ+ elected officials are in protecting our fundamental rights. I had the privilege of joining with Scott Wiener to protect marriage equality in California in 2024, and other LGBTQ+ legislators are working hard to do the same and more.

I'm thrilled and energized by what we've done this Pride season in Columbus, Chicago and San Francisco, but our work to build equitable LGBTQ representation is 24/7/365.

Op-Ed: The legacy of , both then and now, serves as a powerful reminder today. Our ongoing work at our LGBTQ+ Victory Fund is a direct continuation of his fight, and I implore our public officials to act decisively and enshrine his service.

Concrete steps include passing Harvey Milk Day resolutions and naming public buildings, schools, and parks in his profound honor.

Our mission to elevate representation is paramount. As many already know, Harvey Milk was a proud Navy veteran, and his service reflects that of thousands of gay veterans who have contributed to our nation with honor, distinction, and an unyielding warrior spirit.

Gay politician Evan Low knows how far we've come since the days of Harvey Milk's trailblazing activism, but he wonders what Milk would think of our progress.
