💭 Did you miss the Kalayaan Summit? Want to learn more about how we can continue the Filipino people’s fight for justice and freedom together? Join local Filipino community organizers from Gabriela Sacramento, Kabataan Alliance, NCPASA, and UC Davis Mga Kapatid to hear us share and reflect on our learnings from Summit!
✊🏽 The historic Kalayaan Summit, held over June 26-27th, gathered over 1000 attendees at what was the largest political gathering of Filipinos in the U.S to date. The Summit brought forth a wide range of organizations from across the country, fighting in campaigns for freedom from detention, and repression; war and occupation; and poverty, exploitation, and oppression. Please come with ideas and reflections to share. We want everyone to join the discussion on how we can take up these fights in the Sacramento area!
🎨 Following the reportback, we will be holding a PSONA art build. PSONA (People’s State of the Nation Address) is the people’s response to the Philippine president’s annual State of the Nation Address that happens each July. Every year, the people come together to counter the state’s lies and corruption, and to expose the true conditions of the Filipino people. Let’s make signs and other prop to bring to the PSONA mobilization on Monday July 27th in SF!
