Step into another world…

Back in 2014, Clearwater Designs brought a dreamscape to life at the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show—where waterfalls whispered through lush jungle plantings and winding pathways invited you to wander deeper.

Suspended above the water, a floating bed drifted like something out of a dream. Overhead, aerial silk performers moved through the air like living art. And at the heart of it all—a Burning Man art car inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, complete with a working harpoon, blurring the line between imagination and reality.

It wasn’t just a garden… it was an experience. 🌿💧

“Imagine looking out your kitchen window and seeing this every day.”

This Auburn foothill home overlooks a large Auquascape multi-tiered pondless waterfall that fills the backyard with the sound of moving water.

Golfers on the neighboring course can hear the waterfall echoing across the fairway… but they can’t quite see it, leaving them curious about where that peaceful sound is coming from.

For the homeowners, it’s their everyday view.
For everyone else, it’s a little hidden gem.

So grateful to have gotten time with some of the true pioneers of the pond world — Greg Wittstock, Ed Beaulieu, and Brian Helfrich — at the Aquascape Winter Retreat this year.

Every time Nathan and I spend time with these guys, we leave inspired and full of new ideas. Learning from the best in the industry helps us keep raising the bar.

We bring that knowledge and inspiration straight back home to the ponds and waterfalls we build for our clients here in Northern California.

Ponds aren’t just backyard features—they’re little ecosystems! They not only welcome us with beautiful waterfalls and lush plants, but also become a haven for wildlife. If you enjoy nature , you can invite it right in, turning your yard into a vibrant seasonal experience. At Clearwater Farm, spring is the season for wild waterfowl. In a month or so it’s likely we will have a few families with young ones paddling happily on our several ponds.

Until then, we’re enjoying the quiet moments—watching the geese glide across the water and listening to the gentle sound of the falls. Nature always finds its way to water.

Right now… it’s bare ground.

Fresh soil. Rock. Water. Possibility.

This small recreational pond just finished up, and at the moment it’s surrounded by open earth — but that’s the beautiful part. We’re standing at the very beginning of something.

Soon this backyard could be layered with plantings, soft textures, movement, shade, and life. The edges will disappear into greenery. The waterfall will feel like it’s always been here. Kids will run barefoot across the yard and cannonball into clear water on 100° Sacramento Valley days.

What you’re seeing in this video is not just a pond.

It’s the foundation of a family paradise in the making.
A place for growing kids.
A place for late summer evenings.
A place where memories will outlast the bare ground stage by decades.

Every paradise starts with dirt.

We can’t wait to watch this one grow. 🌿💦
