Honored to receive the Order of California from Maj Gen Matthew P. Beevers, The Adjutant General, for Team Roth’s exceptionally meritorious service in support of the California Military Department and the California National Guard from 2012 to 2024, joining some very distinguished past recipients, such as Bob Hope, Gene Autry, Martha Raye and Senator Dianne Feinstein, among others.

While the members of the Military Department and the National Guard have just honored me, it has been the honor and the privilege of my lifetime to serve them as they dedicate their lives to serving us! From fighting in war zones overseas to homeland defense, from counter-drug and counter-terrorism missions to defending against cybersecurity attacks, from feeding the needy, supporting our youth and providing critical medical support during the COVID pandemic toconducting search and rescue operations and battling wildfires involving millions and millions of acres around this State, personnel from the California Military Department and California National Guard have fought, and continue to fight, to ensure freedom around the World and safeguard lives and property here at home for all of the rest of us – everyday, everywhere, all the time. As Californian’s, we owe each and every one of them…..a lot!

Honored to speak at the Jan 22 memorial event for a California Treasure – Mr. Joe Tavaglione, who passed at age 101 on Aug 2, 2024. Appointed by four California Governors (both Republican and Democrat) to the California Transportation Commission – the longest serving commissioner in its history. Joe Tavaglione was a humble giant of a man. But, his story is much more than that – it’s a story of dedication, selfless service, integrity, vision, grace and, above all, kindness. As you drive our streets and freeways, take the train across our State or pass over or under our bridges, you will see miles and miles of transportation infrastructure bearing joe Tavaglione’s mark – infrastructure that has been and will continue to be a major piston in California’s economic engine for decades and decades to come. And, none of it would have happened without Joe. His work will be forever memorialized with the naming of the 60/91/215 interchange the “Joseph Tavaglione Memorial Interchange” and it was an honor and a privilege to be part of that. We will all miss you Joe…..a lot!

Honored to attend the March Air Reserve Base retirement ceremony for our friend, Colonel C.J. Bramante, Commander of the California Air National Guard’s 163d Attack Wing and the assumption of command of the Wing by another friend, Colonel Amee Howard. Colonel Howard is the first female to ever command the 163d. These individuals are among the countless dedicated and selfless men and women who serve our Armed Services, our nation, and us each and every day. Congratulations!

Today was the last day in our downtown Riverside District Office, as we turned in our keys and shut off the lights after twelve years representing the 31st State Senate District in western Riverside County. It has been an honor to serve the countless hard working and dedicated individuals that make our region a truly unique and special place. Thank you.

It was terrific to visit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Empire office in Riverside and honor this incredible organization on their 10th anniversary serving Inland Southern California. Starting with just seven employees and fewer than 300 matches between mentors and mentees, they have grown to an organization that has helped more than 4,000 youths. The dedicated individuals who volunteer, including, in the past, members of my district office staff, as big brothers and big sisters have helped transform young people’s lives, giving them support, guidance, and friendship, empowering them to achieve their dreams, while instilling confidence and self-esteem. Congratulations!
